Just finished a new build and trying to installl Windows 7 and keep getting the post code 11209-8C000002. It asks me to select a proper boot device and restart. I have run it throught the boot options in the bios and it keeps coming up with the same message. any thoughts

So you selected where you installed windows 7 and saved it in the BIOS. Is the battery dead in on the mobo. Just a thought. It should retain information in the BIOS when saved. Things such as time, date, clock speed and boot order

EDIT: EEK. I thought you already had it installed. sry

In that case,

My first thought would be "give some more info". Win7 is on DVD I take it? Is the optical drive detected in the BIOS? Does the Optical drive boot from other disks? Can you read the disk in another machine?

You might want to enter your system specs as well.

What? The only thing that was said about a DVD is when Dan asked the OP if his windows 7 was on a DVD.

Is it a burned copy? Is it one from Microsoft with the flashy front? Has it ever read before? Im wondering if its a misburn.

its a legit oem builders copy professional

Do you have another drive you can stick it in and test it, to make sure that it brings up the windows installation?

Tried hitting Escape or F2 or something to get a Boot Menu? The correct key should be displayed when it's in POST.
Then select your optical drive and try to boot. If that doesn't work it might be that your DVD is defective.
