At the ongoing CeBIT event, Sapphire is showing off what it claims will be the fastest graphics card in the market: the Sapphire HD 5970 OC 4 GB. This non-reference design Radeon HD 5970 dual-GPU graphics card sports two full-featured AMD Cypress GPUs, higher clock speeds, and twice the amount of memory. What is also ends up showing off is that Arctic Cooling seems to be ready with a cooler for the Radeon HD 5970.

Sapphire's new card uses a blue-colored PCB, a custom-designed cooling assembly by Arctic Cooling, clock speeds of 850 MHz (core) and 1200 MHz (memory), against reference speeds of 725/1000 MHz, 2 GB of GDDR5 memory per GPU (4 GB on card), and being able to draw power from two 8-pin power connectors. With the cooling assembly, the card is three slots thick. It has two DVI-D connectors, and one mini-DP connector. This card competes with a similar graphics card by ASUS in the works, called the ROG Ares dual-HD 5870. Its pricing and availability are not known.

Feeding the masses with the good stuff! Thanks TPU..

Damn those AC coolers are ugly IMO, but as long as they do the job. Hmm, a got a thousand USD ready to spend, several choices surfacing, need performance data..

mmm yes very nice, quad crossfire will be ownage with these babies.

wow i might need a cherry picker to install that. Damn fine card i must say.

I bet you can buy a couple of these for the price of the Ares.

8 gigs of video ram....*giggles like a school girl and runs off*.....i was talking about crossfiring them for no apparently reason but madness

and only 2GB usable since ram isnt additive in crossfire...

oh lawdy, cant wait to see some dumbass try and use these in a 32 bit OS...

Massive! The fans extend the card into 3 slots. I'd have to saw out bits of the case in order to fit this thing

:D

indeed museels that would be funny

Damn thats massive (and fugly). But I think that this shouldn't be as expensive as the Asus ROG Ares.

Well, now that surely wouldn't fit inside my case!

Those fans give the impression like they could be noisy...

If the fans are like the ones used in the Accelero Xtreme 4870X2 they are almost inaudible, I love them :respect: . They silenced and cooled the beast of my 4870x2 :)

That cooling solution may work well but it sure is ugly :shadedshu

A competitor to ARES.

:O cant wait to the inevitable 4x5970. pure folding beast.

That is an Arctic Cooling cooler, it certianly works perfectly.
I actually like how this card looks over the Ares.

Wow, clock are just then on the 5870! That means it will challange with Asus ROG Ares!:D Can't wait to buy this monster!:P

Nice to see Arctic cooling still produce that heavy heatsink, cuz the performances are very close to the high end full waterblocks units.

im not too worried about fitting in the case.. ill take the dremel to it if necessary, id like to see a wide load sticker on the back

From the look of it, it is shorter than a reference 5970, pretty much 4870X2 size by looking at that cooler.

why oh why is it three slots deep. Cmon, with all this research and money you know they can make a two slot cooler that is just as good. Meh

Hey which picture did you see? It has only two a slot cooler!

its pretty clear the card takes up 3 slots, and needs a 4th for airflow.

I own a 4870X2 with the Accelero Xtreme cooler, and believe me, it does the job. It cut the temps in half for both idle and load, and the vacuum cleaner sound the oem cooling solution had was gone too. Even at 100% you cant hear the fans over the cpu fan. But it does take 3 full slots, and an extra one if you want good airflow. I can't wait to get one of those Sapphire babies.....

ok sapphire just one step for me, made an 5870 with 2G memory
