Epson's budget-minded Endeavor NJ1000 laptop

Epson, known mainly for their printers, is entering the notebook market with their Endeavor NJ1000 laptop. Designed for the budget minded, the Endeavor features a 15-inch XGA display, Celeron M 410 processor, 256MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, and a plain old CD-ROM drive - all for just 64,890 Yen (about $550). It is possible to upgrade the notebook, with the top configuration being a Core 2 Duo T5500 processor, 160GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, and a DVD burner.

A white version of the laptop will be available also.

The problem with this? It it has a Celeron and 256MB of RAM! I guess it would be good for someone looking to have a laptop to use for basic word processing and things like that, internet ect. but not me. The price isn't all that amazing either.

I just got a Sempron 3300+, 512mb ram, 60gb hdd, CDRW/DVD, 15" widescreen for $400

Budget indeed.

the dothan and yonah Celeron M processors are quite decent, the processor is almost the same except for speedstep and half the cache missing,

ram is dirt cheap and can be upgraded, putting a gig in to it, consider another $100 max

thats web surfing and office work latop, its not ment to run oblivion.

Most laptops aren't meant to run games, if you want to play games get a desktop. You don't need anything more then a Celeron M and 256MB of RAM. I still use a 1GHz PIII laptop with 256MB of RAM. Why? Because it still does everything a laptop needs to do just fine.

256mb, would take 2x 512 to upgrade the ram... You;re looking at $120 then.. and then you're still stuck with a 40GB hdd and a slow CPU.

Making the cost $670... hmm... I bet for about $80 more, you can get a much, much faster system...

Bottom of the barrel, really is bottom of the barrel.

Thankfully, my system came with a single 512 stick, and it was only $60 to double it

Care to take a guess how much it costs? Thats right, $549. Yep, Epson shure is giving you your moneys worth.
