Club 3D rolled out a new silent graphics card based on the ATI Radeon HD 5550, what it calls the "Noiseless Edition". The Club 3D HD 5550 Noiseless Edition is based on the 40 nm "Redwood" GPU, packs 320 stream processors, is DirectX 11 compliant, and carries 512 MB of GDDR3 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface. The card is full-height, and its silent GPU heatsink spans across two expansion slots. The cooler is made of an aluminum fin block to which heat is conveyed by heat pipes. The GPU is clocked at 550 MHz, and memory at 1600 MHz DDR. Connectivity includes DVI-D, D-Sub, and HDMI with on-chip 7.1 HD audio with DTS, and Dolby Digital. Like every other card based on Redwood, it draws all its power from the PCI-Express slot. The Club 3D HD 5550 Noiseless Edition is expected to be priced around the $70 mark.

So this has the power of a HD3870 but the memory interface is cut in half to 128bit, not bad:toast:

Pretty sure it performs worse than even a 3850 :)

^^ This above seems pretty pointless because it is huge, although I'm sure it performs well.

They should make a low profile version of the 5570 with passive cooling.

I'd like that.

I've got low profile 5570 with fan in my HTPC. I thought I'll have to make DIY passive cooling for it, but the fan is so quiet, that I can't hear it over PSU and CPU fans.

Will it OC like 5570?

Hehehe, at least they've done the box art right on this one.

For HTPC\SFF system those cards has to be in low profile variant. I think its performance is more or less like the HD 4650.

Good sound card though.

I haven't seen or heard of any 5550s released anywhere in North America yet and the 5550 isn't listed on AMD's list of HD 5000 Series. Is it only out in Europe or something?

Pretty sure the Redwood GPU has 400 shaders, right?

It's a castrated redwood, mayhaps to reduce power consumption even further?
