Sapphire today announced the latest addition to its Ultimate Edition product lineup-the Sapphire Ultimate X1950 Pro. The Sapphire Ultimate X1950 Pro features custom blue LED Zalman VF900-Cu cooler and higher clock rates than regular X1950 Pro cards. The Ultimate X1950 Pro comes with factory overclocked GPU at 580MHz and memory running at 800MHz, instead of the default 575/690MHz frequencies. The card has 512MB of GDDR3 video memory and 256-bit interface. Additional features of the Sapphire Ultimate X1950 Pro include HDCP compatibility, two dual-link DVI outputs, TV-out and a PCI Express x16 interface. Availability of the Sapphire Ultimate X1950 Pro is expected next week with an M.S.R.P. of $229 USD.

Damn i want one, i bet there's still room to OC :)

those bastards !!! look what they bring out after I buy there normal one and order vf900. ..not pleased ;)

A lot of the vid companies exploit their customers - It Sucks!

I wish the clowns at Sapphire would learn how to properly clone an ATI reference mobo so they'd have something to sell worth buying. Sapphire has a great production facility but little clue.

2 Questions

1. what are the chances of the x1950 Agp version of this being made

2. Would i see an improvement in games such as bf2/2142 and fear over a X850xtpe
<<<<-- Rest of system specs here

You will see a difference in framerate and playable settings over an X850XTPE, more so if you overclock your 3700+.

Poor X1950PRO owners like me have still have yet to get our hands on a version of ATITool that can clock the memory. But I betcha the memory on that card won't go much past 800mhz if it uses the same chips as the standard 256mb X1950PRO.

There's much more room for the core :D anyway i bet it go can all the way to 700mhz.

All for only $229? Does anyone want to buy my x850 CrossFire setup so I can get SM3.0 finally????? haha...

I dont know if its the basic reference cooler or not on my sapphire 256 1950pro, but if i try to clock core to 600 or higher then the card tends to blank out momenteraly or crash alltogether :/ although ive only had this happen durring nfs carbon which runds flawless when card isnt overclocked . if i clock the memory , it artifacts around 730 :(. hopeing this changes witht he vf900, as i was hopeing for 750 (1800) on the memory

Stupid overdrive autodetect clocks pushes mem right up to 790 and the screen is already garbage at 760 . 621/700 is fine for messing with 3dmark, but for games i have to stick to defaults (580/700)it seems .

and they added 256mb of ram no less. I also bought the original x1950pro, and put a vf900 on it...now I feel ripped off slightly. Then again, the prices still haven't come down, so I don't feel so bad...yet.

The best I could do is 594/726 before it artifacts on stock cooling but im happy with it.

@Batou1986 - the X1950 Pro AGP version is already out (in Europe)

@All - wow a 5Mhz overclock (580 vs 575 stock). I wonder how they managed that feat of engineering [/sarcasm].

the card as only 256mb not 512mb

look at the overclok memory (1600mhz default against the 1380Mhz of all others x1950 pro ) ;)

Sapphire x1950 pro 256mb >>>>Stokcooler || 575mhz core //1340mhz memoriy --- máx OC memory 1450mhz

Sapphire x1950 pro Ultimate 256mb >> Zalman VF900-CU|| 580mhz core//1600mhz default memory --- max OC memory ????

So what about unlocking this to 16 pipes? Anyone heard anything about that? I unlocked my HIS x1800GTO and overclocked it from 500/500 to 700/700. Ever since then I've been trying to find the next big money saver.

I'm hoping that if these don't unlock, the R600 core will follow the same trend as the X1800 cards. My GTO sticker literally covers up an old XL sticker. My guess is they couldnt get rid of the XL's like they wanted to so they cut prices and brought the card down in spec just a tad even though it was more than capable of performing at XL specs.

Not possible, the X1950pro uses its own core(RV570) a reduced version of the more powerful X1950XTX(RV580).

I see... Well that sucks ;P

Whats the most anyone has gotten out of this thing with overclocking? Can you control the voltage via ATI Tool?

The card has 512MB of GDDR3 video memory and 256-bit interface.

So, unless you have another source that says otherwise, the news tells us there's 512mb.

the card as only 256mb not 512mb

1600mhz seems pretty decent, although the default on my sapphire x1950 is 700mhz on the ram. Using the ccc i've been able to OC it to 793mhz.

edit:just visted sapphires website, guess it is only 256mb. So, you're paying a little more for a nicer cooler and a factory overclock, not so bad.
