sorry. I was thinking software.

I'll dig around and see if I have anything in your list.

It's been a while so this might be a stupid question, but aren't the card edge connectors pinned the same way as the standard floppy pin-outs on current mobo's? Wouldn't you just need a cable that takes the standard pinout on the mobo end and then has both card edge and pin connectors along the cable? I think I have something like that. I'll look for that too.

I have SCSI to standard floppy adaptors, however, finding a motherboard that supports a 5.25" drive is tough. No newer mobos support them. You can put in the disk, it will spin, but it cannot read it, as it treats it as an 3.5" floppy for the most part. Trust me, I have tried. Alot. On 5 different computers. With 2 different floppy drives. None were old enough.

I've been pretty diligent about recycling my old electronics - too diligent I guess. I found a couple of sound cards but I can't tell if they are 16bit ISA or EISA

Creative sound blaster CT367x (x = 0, 3 or 8 - fcc id has 3670 so that's probably it - nothing on google search)

avance logic als120

edit - a few more places I can look tomorrow.

I couldn't imagine a sound blaster in an xt generation computer. It would be like having an x-fi xtreme gamer in a first generation pentium. :D

of course, anything is better than a pc speaker.

Yeah, it's not going to work. The XT has all 8 bit slots (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industry_Standard_Architecture) and both of mine are 16 bit cards.

Edit: there's also the issue of drivers. Even if a manufacturer is still around, you're not always guaranteed of finding the drivers on line. I probably have a bunch of install disks for all sorts of stuff but I'd have find them and rummage through.

I think the limits would be a first generation sound blaster (not a pro), adlib, or even a covox sound master or something like that. I wouldn't mind finding an old adlib card for nostalgia's sake myself though. those things were great with the old sierra games (I'm thinking King's Quest 4, 5, 6 especially)

If either of you have any old DOS games, and a DOS disk, which I need, please PM me about it!

My classic equipment is in the States in my parents' basement, but I'll be going there at the end of the summer for vacation. I'll check what I've got -one of my friends has a vast collection of vintage computers... probably 40-50 PCs ranging from XTs to Pentium 2s and 3s collecting dust. I'll try to raid some of the collection and look for the parts you don't have by then. Shoot me a reminder in September and I'll see what I can do!

The only thing I could ever offer is not in the way of hardware.. more like "software"..
I have an very old book or more like an instruction, it's called "Build your own Z80 Computer by Steve Ciarcia". Includes design guidelines and application notes.

And when I say build your own, I really mean build your own as in - YOU have to build it from scratch, even includes how to program it..

Book is from 1981, ISBN 0-07-010962-1

I'll post a picture as soon as possible.
