hi guys, i need some advice here. currently i own a gtx260+. i was thinking of getting the new GTX460. Should i sell my gtx260+ fund for my gtx460? Or i should keep it for future to get another mobo and have the gtx260+ as Physx card (current mobo does not support sli).

another question, if another extra card as Physx (eg: GTX460 with gtx260+ as Physx), will it improve performance? a lot?

Well if a games uses physx then definitely. Although I don't really see the point of it warranting such a card (gtx260) I do think physx is "overrated"! If I were you, I'd definitely sell it, especially knowing nv's card have good resale value.

No need at all to have the 260 for a PhysX card. Sell it off.

Would you, please, fill in your system specs here, so that we could get an insight of what your rig looks like and give better advice. :)

I don't think that you'll get too much difference by changing from a 260+ to a 460. There's a performance improvement, of course, but not that visible. If you just want to start using DX11, then that's a good reason to move to a GTX 460.
Using a 260+ just for PhysX is just overkill, imo. Most of the GPU capabilities will be unused and most games that use PhysX don't need that much processing power. Well, MAFIA II might...but it's just one game for now.

EDIT: You guys beat me to it! :p

GTX 460 should be able to handle PhysX on its own, a dedicated card will improve performance though not to any great extent and a gtx 260 is overkill for PhysX.

The best advice to you is that you should not buy the GTX460. Its a highly inefficient card, pricey and will have a fairly low life span. It will soon be replaced with another card.

Better go for 5870. Lower price, higher performance.

If you're an nvidia fanboy, I'd say wait a little and let newer parts arrive. They'll be a lot cooler and efficient than 460 and 480.

I think you are mistaking it for a gtx470 or 465. Afaik, the 460 runs cool, drains low power, even lower than some of the 5000's. And, talking about price, the 460 costs a tad less than the 5870. perf/price ratio, you gotta admit its great (460)

Oh sorry. Yeah. I got mistaken. Damn me.

The 460 is a lot better than 470 in terms of power consumption. But I'd rate it below 5870 and 5850 in terms of efficiency.

I agree, best card from Nvidia out of the 4** series yet, find me a 5870 for less than a GTX 460 and i'll bite your hands off for it.

I'm selling my GTX 260 (216) to defray the cost of my GTX 460. There's no good reason to hang onto it now. The GTX 460 1GB, while not extremely faster than it (about 20-25%) has other attributes that made the purchase worthwhile for me. Its smaller, quieter and cooler. My CPU temps even dropped by about 5C not having the extra heat in the case from the GTX 260 and its open Arctic Cooling Accelero HSF.
