5000 series OCing thread

To those who OC'd their GPUs what's the highest clocks you get at stock 3D voltage?
What is the best stable OC increasing voltage?

I've got the sapphire 5850 toxic so no voltage adjustment for me
However I've hit 930 core /1300-1350 mem and held it stable. Anything higher on the core w/ those mem speeds and it would lock on the heaven benches pretty quickly

I flashed mine with a xfx xxx 5870 and I haven't touched my voltages
cause there's no need to in my case (I have two 5850s - xfx xxx and powercolor) they both run stable at 900/1250, I could bump more but those were my sweet spots the highest I've benchmarked was 1000/1300

I hit just under 1.1Ghz on water at 1.3v more voltage doesn't seem to help much.

I get 1070 @ 1.3v both cards hit the exact same limit..dunno why though. I have them stock-clocked 24/7 instead.

1101Mhz was the highest GPU clock, but at that level I couldn't hold the RAM at 1300Mhz. Best blend for my card is 1080/1300Mhz @ 1.35v.

Did you use Asus iTracker 2 to up the volts? I want to overclock but that program keeps giving me BSOD's... and its the only way I can up the volts.

I'm sitting at 962mhz/1255mhz with stock volts.

No I used Asus SmartDoctor. Allows voltage up to 1.5Volts.

Your 5870 probably won't OC as well as the 1Gb models. 1250 - 1275Mhz on memory will be about all you can hope for. The GPU should go higher with more volts. 1.35 should get you over 1Ghz.

When software doesn't work, you can always edit the bios with RBE for more volts.

It's hard to believe I've owned these cards for almost a year now! It's time to push them hard.. Just waiting for my new coolers to arrive tomorrow. I'm afraid to turn the fans up on my stock coolers as the fans are going out on them with bad bearings. One just sounds plain bad and the other just started making noise yesterday. Btw, Diamond customer service is either useless or non-existant.

I thought you would have had those by now. Think you mentioned the new cooling about 2 weeks ago. May as well see how high they will go on stock cooling with ^Volts...

Those will get you to 1Ghz no problem with a little more juice. Do they use full size ramsinks?

I will most likely use the plates from the stock cooler, if it won't work (I'm pretty sure it will) then I'll use the individual ramsinks. I've already had my cards at 1ghz 1.28v. The stock coolers did the job, but were very loud.

I'm sitting at 850MHz core and 1350MHz with complete stability on my 5750. I'm not going to take it much above that since the difference will be negligible but that's what's working for me.

I would think the swiftech mcw80 or mcw60 would work, mounting holes look the same as a reference. I don't see a custom full coverage block for it.

I run 900 core on stock volts. I've tried 1Ghz but Furmark will lock even with 1.3v so idk.

What's the norm for testing stability? I havn't really messed with it since I'm not sure what's a good tester outside of Furmark and crashing in game because of unstable overclock is not my idea of fun.

my 5870 topped out at 975/1250 no matter the voltage
my 5850 topped out at 1030/1350 @ 1.35v and comfortably did 1000 core @ 1.25v

now I use only a laptop (moved country) with a Mobility 5650 1gb (DDR3), stock clocks of 550/800 and she comfortably does 700/950

all cards stock cooling with boosted fan profile (bar mobility card)

My 5870 can do 980 core and 1250 mem on stock voltage and if I bump it up to 1.17v I can reach 1000 core. It is stable enough to run games all day. Right now though I have my 5870 and 5850 in CF at 5870 stock speed.

Is your 5870 one of those with the lower default voltage? Something like just under 1.1v I think.

Mine defaults to 1.125 in 3D mode. I have always wondered if mine was different or something because I always read of people needing 1.3/1.2v to reach the 1000 core mark
