It doesn't really come as much of a surprise, but the Nintendo Wii has sold out in the UK in less than 12 hours. It's estimated that Nintendo shipped 50,000 consoles for the launch day and many stores have been unable to supply the consoles that were pre-ordered, never mind selling them to the casual shopper walking in. Apparently a number of shops were anticipating more consoles to be allocated to them, leading to this shortage. The HMV store on Oxford Street in London opened its doors at midnight to sell the consoles (it hadn't taken pre-orders) and within minutes all 200 they had in stock had been snapped up.

What are these Wii owners playing? I mean seriously, beyond Zelda, their entire launch line up has been torn apart by reviewers.

You probably just answered your own question. And reviews aren't everything remember, it all comes down to opinion.

Wii Sports can entertain the simplest of minds for ages. That's exactly what Nintendo wants. My parents, grandparents, and all of their friends have a blast playing Wii Sports. The game gets boring for me, but that's because the games I play require so much more than, "Which way do I swing the control... Left or Right?".

So you're saying that parents and grandparents are the ones standing in lines for days , just to play Wii sports? That isn't exactly the early adopters group for game consoles.

A game that gets a 7.0 on a review by IGN can be a 9.0 in other peoples opinion...it really depends on the person. And there are other great games on the Wii besides Zelda.

ill be honest, the only game i want to play is Zelda but i certainly aint gonna pay £200 for the game and console just to play it, hopefully nintendo gets full 3rd party support otherwise the wii could become another N64 minus GoldenEye. I am a nintendo fan but having seen some of the games in action ill not be buying one for a while atleast

I'm not talking about IGN. When 40 review sites, give an average score of 7.0 , that is a pretty good indication of the quality of the game. Gamerankings.com gives a pretty good sense of game worthiness.
