Galaxy, known for coming up with some of the widest varieties of non-reference design graphics cards, is now working on a new GeForce GTX 460 PCB that makes use of a high-grade digital PWM power supply. Still in its design-phase, the PCB is white in color, though there's a chance of the final product differing in color. The PCB draws power from a 6 pin, and 6+2 pin power connectors. It makes use of a 6+2 phase PWM circuit controlled by a Volterra VT1185M, with VT1157SF PWM ICs. It also makes use of high-C capacitors, as well as NEC-made Prodalizers to condition power. This PWM circuit can supply up to 240A, with conversion efficiency of over 85%.

What it means for overclockers of course, is that they can tinker with voltages to their hearts' content, if their cooling permits it, without any capacitor mods. It is also extremely efficient, so idle power draw will be lesser than NVIDIA's reference design. This particular PCB in the pictures holds just six memory chips, indicating it's a 768 MB variant, but there's room for 8 chips, and a 1 GB variant built on this PCB design. We will hear more about this PCB in the weeks to come.

This color scheme looks nice and pretty original. Dunna how it would fare over time though, with dust and heat etc.

Yes.....hope they stick with the white - would be very nice, for a change...but then again, the cooler would steal the most of the eye-candy, only leaving the backside viewable...

Don't forget that the cooler is viewable only from the under-side when it sits in your case! So you don't see it really!

Not with my case :)

Thats one mean case! Antec? So you're one of the exceptions then!

Antec Skeleton......only downside: It is a DUST magnet :)

Has white PCB been done before though? I know some PCB coloring may not be popular among manufacturers if they can discolor due to heat over time (as it can reflect negatively on a product impression even if its still healthy whilst discolored). I Dunno (see wat i did thar) if white would turn a shade of yellow or gray or something, or weather there hasn't been white PCB before, I just have never seen them until now and think that if there was any reasons for why not, it'd probably come down to either cost or some side effect like discolouration (even tho i know, white is a shade and all )

Too little too late :(

Nope , most of the pcb`s are white before they apply the LPI soldermask . Thats just a prototype , im pretty sure they will go with their baby blue for the final product ... but who knows ... maybe its time for a pink PCB :)

I know sapphire made some white motherboards in the past, here is one of them and another from the review here at TPU

Personally i think the first one i linked to looks quite nice and would go great with this card.... if the motherboard was not 5 years old

I hope some motherboard manufacturer to do white board once more. And then pair it with white graphics card this would be very beautiful. :rockout: Sadly, Sapphire Pure board later version is not white anymore. :(

Well....maybe not a bad idea....get some acrylic plates and my Dremel.....could be an Christmas holiday thing.....but I have to take care of the airflow...hmmm maybe some sort of mesh/dust filtering thing.....thanks for the idea

They should bring back white PCB... Imagine how great a white PCB motherboard would look inside a case with matching white interior...

It woud be a nice change to be able to get both a white motherboard and gpu, possibly even other add in cards, i don't think there was any white gpu's when sapphire was elling their white motherboards.

If this card is white when it hits the market it would look awesome in a Nzxt Phantom with Nzxt Hal90 PSU.

I was thinking the same thing. White is the next red/black?

I'd love an all-white system...who's got the white mem?

:pimp:

"Yay, let's screw the card's best feature -> the price point <- and price it just barely under the next performance-level card."

Yeah, I'm sure people will rather pay the same money for a white and a-bit-more-overclockable GTX460 as they would pay for a GTX470.
Not.

I run my system on my custom open air tech bench. Doesn't get very much dust at all. I just take a air duster to it every so often.

Your just showing off your beautiful system  :p i love the tubing, is it clear reinforced hose pipe?

Really if you want white pcb then it won't matter that it's more expensive as it's a speciality item, you will always have to pay more for something special.

this will be the gtx460 I purchase for sure! not because of the white honestly white is not my lthing but this card has volterra digital vregs!!!!!3 fine fine voltage tuning and easy as well!! hell it may even have mvddc tuning in there!! yep this card will oc like a beast with the right cooler!!!!!!!!!
