no its more of a gimick.. it's not even truely a valve. just made to look like one..

for your laptop you are quite stuck.. you could get something akin to an experess card for it? or there are some usb soundcards now.. if you want to go the distance for real nice audio then get something ike EMU404 (bit overkill)

I however used (for a while) the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go which worked ok....

also you could look into maybe usb headphones? Most probably wont be that good but im sure there are some which will be ok/decent

its just a USB souncard in a clear plastic tube with an LED light in it.

its NOT an old school 'valve' used in audio devices, just something that looks like it.

also, its not true DTS audio - its just some more of that 'fake' surround sound for headphone users.
