This is very very smart on their part, they will no doubt sell a Sh!(f)t load of these... I know after seeing the capacity, price, and USB 3.0 I will be picking up at least four of the 16GB ones to swap over to from my older ones

Very nice! I'm still not 100% happy with the speed, I KNOW they can do a little better, BUT It is still good & faster than the average by far, and the price is GREAT

Will probably get one, just hope we see bigger than 16GB sometime soon.

Shame the write speed isn't that much faster than the best USB 2.0 drives, BUT it's only $14/29, so it's really hard to complain... especially as most USB 2.0 drives with that kind of write speed is 2-3x the cost of this.

The price is certainly good, especially for a USB 3.0 drive. $14 for 8GB. 8GB here in Slovenia is mostly starting at 18€ and up...

It's great to see such a low priced usb3 flash drive, i admit i would like a little more speed but 16gb for $30 i can't complain about speed.

Now i just hope that the unlocked sandy bridge processors are not stupidly expensive so they make me want a new motherboard with usb3

WOW that is damn cheap especially for the new tech with USB 3.0 Too bad I don't have a USB 3.0 port but Ill be damn Imma get one and then when I eventually upgrade it will make it worth it. 14 bucks for 8 gbs is the cheapest I have ever seen!

Any idea what the Read/Write would be on USB2.0 for one of these? I'm thinking this may be faster than any of the regular USB2.0 flash drives anyway, not even using the USB3.0 features (not going to be switching to a USB3.0 board or shoving a PCIe card in for a while).

No. Performance will most likely be exactly the same as all other USB 2.0 devices when used as a 2.0 device. USB 2.0 is the limiting factor here. Most hardware can exceed 2.0 speeds, but since that's the interface all flash drives use, they all are subjected to the same bottleneck.


So does anyone know where these are sold? I would buy one right now if I had a link. This is one of the best things I've seen in a while. Faster than USB 2.0 flash drives? Hellz yeah!
