Fact is AMD have always been best value for performance whilst Nvidia just rip you off, AMD will price their cards below Nvidia even though they perform better, less cost more sales, more market share. It's not as if Nvidia are even providing any competition in the market currently, 580 stocks are all but dried up and 570 is scarce LMAO. AMD will do a proper next generation release of new cards and not some lame refresh with hardly no stock.

As for my performance figures, they come from a guy I know who works for one of AMD's biggest AIB's, come review day they will be found to be correct,

Did a quick search on newegg, guess what: GTX 580 and GTX 570 are both available (well, quite a lot of GTX 580s are gone, but you can still get them). GTX580 might be a lame name, but do not write it off as a lame product. Its a bloody good refresh because it fixes the main issue(s) plaguing GTX 480.

No proof for 6970's performance figures? Well, tough luck, I will need to wait for 6970 to confirm any sort of bull spewing out from the internets.

6970 @ OCUK will be under £350.

Wanna take a bet on that? My money goes on the 6970 at around £380 and the 6950 at around £320 - £330....... and please don't tell me about NVidia stock, just take a look at how limited the initial stocks of the 6850/6870 were in the UK on release.

There was plenty of stock in the UK, 6870 never sold out at all at OCUK, it was not in demand. 580 in the UK is currently extinct lol, Nvidia can't produce them in any substantial capacity, it was said a 512 core fermi was unmanufacturable, it just about is. Stock increased after a few week for the 68** cards, the opposite is true of the 580, stock has gone and it's not being replaced.

The 6950 is 1GB, it will be well less expensive than the 6970, easily under £300. And I'm talking prices without etailer gouging.

You guy don`t forget some e-tailer`s do up the price to cash in the NEW year lol I think taty one has the prices right just the stores will price gouge you to turn a profit. This happened when the 4870`s hit and then the 5870`s...remember AMD said they would sell under or at $400 for the XT single gpu`s .

GTX 580 has 512 shaders and is equal in performance to 3200 shaders 5970 has. All those fancy details about shader count and core frequency are quite useless when you compare with a different (or updated) architecture. Oh, generally Fud is not proof here, no matter how many times they get it right.

dude dont u think i already knew that?? otherwise I would have quoted

"OMFG 1560 Shaders triple of 512 shaders"

Did anyone notice the dates posted right under the prices?

The 6970 is launching on the 23rd. Way to be vague about it AMD, however they did word it right in the press release saying that the 6900 SERIES was going to be here on the 11th. Guess we will have to wait some more till we have some reviews on the 6970. Some people aren't going to be pleased about this.

Of course you should know that. But that also means that you should know better to post the number of shaders bold. :wtf:

Looking at the prices. Is it safe to assume that the HD6990 will be €800+ since one HD6950 costs €398.22.

If the 6970 and 6950 are price=performance, nVidia is gonna get their ass whooped!

These alleged prices best bring performance.

It will be very interesting to how 2 6870's in Crossfire will perform against 1 6950 and against 1 6970.

Well on the french site it is quoting 400 euro's for the 6950 the equivilent in £ is roughly £336 and there is that gap between the 2 cards, and you were not talking prices without ETailer goughing, you specifically mentioned overclockers price. You quote that there was always plenty of 6850 and 6870 cards available at Overclockers, there were not after the initial 24 hours at most other retailers, that may well be because consumers either don't want to pay overclcokers prices or that they don't like buying from the company, it can hardly be used as a single reflection on UK wide AMD stocking policy.

Also, i don't know what your talking about in regard to NVidia availability, the first e tailer I checked to see if your story held true was Scan, they have five different GTX 570's in stock and four different GTX 580 models in stock?????

I don't think he speaks without first thinking about what he is saying.

epeen definitely except for one part. A gtx 260? I think it renders your rig infertile regardless of the epeen then :)

The 580 can be found quite easily, don't blame the stores for selling out on Nvidia, why not blame the fact everything has to be shipped in by plane or boat. . .

Anyway It's rather sad how people already believe these to be the best, based on prices from a website.:shadedshu

These prices are probably BS. Or at least I hope so... And for those who think the 6970 will be faster than the 580, probably not. Otherwise they wouldn't of delayed it so much. The 6970 will probably end up being priced between the 570 and 580, since it's performance is probably in that gap too. The 6950 will probably priced pretty close to the 570.

For that price, they need to blow out of space the 580 even the 5970 cards!!!

So true, so damn true.

You can buy a x360 with kinect bundled and 1 game for €270, and seeing all PC games are being ruined to console level there is a definite severe limit how much you should put down for a graphics card.

(Not that I'd ever advise to connect a kinect to a x360 that is connected to the internet, you don't want MS to have a live video feed of your living-room.)

To me it really doesn't matter which card is faster or the best, just buy one and be happy. Obviously, either one of the cards is going to run games just fine and if you're getting 60 frames in games, whats the problem?

Enjoy the cards :) I myself am not interested in none of these high end cards, i am buying a 6850 and a 450 very soon, and those will be my next cards to buy.

I have noticed that you are starting to creep up the Graphics card hierarchy. It started with what, 8400GS? and now its 9800GT. Wouldn't be long before you start looking at GTX 780's and things like that when they are released :p. Best cards requires engineers to think out of the box, improvements will trickle down to the budget cards.
