Logitec Intros Classy and Efficient External HDDs

Japanese company Logitec introduced a new stylish external hard drive, the LHD-ENx000U2HLW. It comes in two variants based on capacity: 1 TB (LHD-EN1000U2HLW), and 2 TB (LHD-EN2000U2HLW ). Measuring 35×183×120 mm, the drives weigh 850 g, and make use of silent WD Green hard drives inside, which makes complete use of the USB 2.0 bandwidth the drive relies on, and keeps the overall unit's power consumption down to 10W. The unit also features a passive air convection system to cool the insides. The 1 TB model is priced at ¥11,800 (US $140) and the 2 TB one at ¥17,800 ($212).

Why they keep making USB 2.0 products? I would be happy to see this with USB 3.0

Yes, and/or eSATA. Recent article comparing USB 3.0 and eSATA shows eSATA outperforming USB 3.0. They Tested with HDtach 3.0.1.0 using an SSD. They flexibility would have been nice from this considering USB 3.0 is backwards compatible (2.0 and 1.1)

Of course with the internal hard drive being a Western Digital Green, I suppose performance really isn't a factor here.

plus i already have an esata port in each computer, and only one with 3.0

yeah but at least USB 3.0 works a lot easier with multiple drives in one enclosure, port multiplier support being 'option' with sata and e-sata is a bit of a pain in the ass. at least with USB 3.0 you KNOW its gunna work properly.
