Today my good friend Unwinder announced the final release of his RivaTuner v2.0 utility. Since its existance the tool has had over 5 million downloads, which just shows how much there is a need for good overclocking software.

Unfortunately with this version Unwinder steps down from Rivatuner development, at least for a few months. I am very sad to see this happening and will miss the countless discussions we had about how to interface with hardware to achieve things like monitoring, overclocking and fan control.

Head over to Guru3D to grab the final RivaTuner 2.0.

How sad.. i love Riva-Tuner. At least now ull have less competition.

Wow W1zz, even on christmas you're looking after TPU!

This is kind of disappointing, I liked rivatuner. Hopefully Nvidia doesn't do something to break its functionality anytime soon. Otherwise I might have to switch to using ATITool:toast: .

That is a shame. Rivatuner is a useful program. Maybe after his break he'll pick it back up again. Thanks for a top-notch program Unwinder.

Here is Unwinder's forum post explaining the situation and sending out his thanks. I can understand completely what he is saying. Putting so much time into one thing for so long can get very tiring. You need to take a break from time to time. Though something tells me he won't be away from Rivatuner for too long. When something becomes that important in your life, and you put so much time and effort into it, it is very hard to walk away from it and never look back.

W1zzard gets a shout out in there too.

Well he does deserve the rest :) he'll be back you'll see ;)

Used it a while ago. It's a shame to see public utilties that obviously work fade away... um 5 million downloads? And aren't the the guys that make the hardware paying attention to what the masses really want? Perhaps there's more to the story, but a shame for sure. Hopefully Unwinder has found better opportunities. Happy trails.
