Scythe Expands Gentle Typhoon Series with New High-RPM Fans

WHAT!!!! no SilverStone Air Penetrator fans tested in either of those proffered links to multiple fan tests

and at 700rpm my SS 180mm fans put out 100cfm and make pretty much sod all noise at 1000rpm they put out 130cfm and still only a quiet murmur for noise
 
They totally kick but!

I didn't know that these were new fans but order one a couple weeks ago, the 3000 rpm one, and its not as noisy as other fans I've owned. I have it installed on a TRUE and you can really feel the air being pushed through the fins with your hand. Not only that my temps are pretty good on a 2600k at stock on prime95 no more than 50 degrees C where as before was hitting 70 degrees C on Intel Stock cooler. The coolest thing is that as soon as you stop priming your temps shoot back down to low idle temps immediately!

Seems odd to bring up your 180mm fan in a thread about 120mm fans :P

Of course there will be a difference in volume there.
 
I have cooked the motherboard fan controller chips in the past with high current fans. They weren't limited to an RPM, the switching transistor let out the magic smoke then that port didn't work any more. Unfortunately it took me a few different boards before I realized that with the exception of the CPU fan header, most of them can't handle much current. These were intel branded boards and one Abit. I don't know if Asus, etc have higher current capabilities.
 
I've ran my 3000 rpm Ultra Kaza (.6 amps) off the NB fan header for a while on my old Asus P5B without a problem.
 
the manual for my Asus M3A32MVP-Deluxe says it can handle 84W or 1~7A the exact words are::

The Fan connectors support cooling fans of 350mA to 2000mA (2A) (24W max) or a total of 1~7A @ +12V (84W max) spread over four Fan headers
