I still got my PS2 that was only cleaned on the outside, never on the inside (just ike a quick dusting down), and i never had any problems....but its probably because over here in AUS, the products are released a lot later, and dont have as many problems :p

I played Resistence Fall of Man, and IMO thats sony's "sell point game" and the graphics are just horrible! They had sooooo much time to create and ultilize "360's ethics" and or coding from, for example; Gears Of War that they could have made the Game a lot better. I have played other games on the PS3 that have better graphics, but in my eyes they looked the same and compared to 360's graphics. GoW hit 360's with a "jizzbomb" and thats one reason why I wanted 360. To name a couple more GRAW and GRAW 2 that will be coming out soon will definitely increase 360's sale. However, i'll admit Resistence Fall of Men online with 40 multiplayer experience is really good especailly having no lag issues. I dunno I am just really happy with my purchase...

Well,I'll admit I'm obviously biased, but here's my take:

Gears of War is a fantastic game, I'll give you that. But consider how much time developers have had to work with the 360 system, harnessing it's potential, etc. How about PS2?? Good example, consider FFXII or God of War vs. some of the first games that came out for PS2 like Timesplitters, etc.... HUGE difference in graphics, rendering, design, etc. Give the PS3 some time... even Sony admits, they are only beginning to tap into the power of that 3GHz Cell processor and graphics card.

Resistance is a 1st gen game, and frankly IMO they did a fantastic job on that for a release game (dissapointed it was only 720p though). So be down on Resistance if you want to.... but have you played the Gran Turismo HD demo in 1080p @ 60fps they just released yet!?!??!?! Ahahahahaha, play that on a 1080p screen, then come post again and we'll see if you've changed your mind.... maybe you will... maybe you won't..... :D

Yes, the PS3 has been, and continues to be plagued by bugs, issues, etc. So have many release versions of systems in the past, this is something to be expected. But, for those of us who have been waiting for years, and have the big screen HDTV's to see the detail, it's a breathtaking achievement, thank you Sony.

And the Bluray discs are amazing! Who cares if they're hard to find in a store and pricey, get them from Netflix!! DVD look grainy and gritty to me now.... it's almost a shame I ever watched a BD.... I think my love of DVD has been shattered forever.... R.I.P. DolbyDigital & 480p.....

You know, you're absolutely right, the PS3 has an INSANE amount potential, there's just nothing around that uses it yet :).

But the graphics card isn't powerful enough to support that incredible processing power, so that could well cause problems. We'll have to wait and see, it's far to early to write off the PS3 at any rate, but I don't plan on buying one unless they get a lot cheaper. And of course it would be nice if they released it here in Europe one day, probably be around the same time as the next Xbox I expect...

I wonder though, maybe that's the whole idea.... remember, the only reason you have a GPU in the first place, is to take the load off the CPU of processing graphics. Obviously GPU's are more geared towards that type of processing, but at a very base level it's still a de facto CPU (for graphics).... all that to say, perhaps they designed it with that problem in mind... so that anything the graphics card can't handle, the processor grabs, and in this way they avoid paying for a high end graphics card.

Also, if you think about it, as freakin pimp as 1080p looks on a TV, it's really not that high a res for a graphics card to render.

Good point - and also the reason the Wii graphics look fine on my old CRT. I might get high def one day, but I think online TV will take over fairly soon and that could easily be higher res once connections get fast enough.

Um, yes it is.... Most people game at 1280x1024 which is 1,310,720 pixels. People consider this a good resolution and it is common that upper-mid-to-high end cards can deal with this and some minor AA/AF in the latest games. However, 1080p is actually 1920x1080 which is 2,073,600 pixels. That's not miles off being twice as much as 1280x1024, and is a larger number than the 1600x1200 reolution that many CRT owners champion and many gamers see as "high-end" - so yes actually, for anything but a high-end PC 1080p graphics are a lot of work to render, especially with AA/AF.

I think he meant in comparison to what people can sometimes render on gigantic uber displays (not the normal), like the Apple Cinema. Those babies can render 1920x1440, 2000 something by 1600ish...and when you get a display like that, that's when you buy an X1950 and claim you're using all the power :).

Thanks for the vote of confidence Zek, but I botched that one. v-zero, you're very right, my mistake. I was thinking 1080 horizontal, but as you said, it's 1920x1080 (1080 vertical).
Thanks for the correction! :)

Good points...

Don't get me wrong man, I am a SONY fanboy! Every electronic component in my home is SONY branded except my console and my clothes. :D I just couldn't see me spending that much for the console! I just hope they can get all that juice from the processy as they say they "can" for the sake of PS3 owners.
