TechPowerUp is ready for the numerous enhancements Internet Explorer 9 brings to Windows 7 operating system. We have added IE9 Jumplists for your favorite site to work more like an application, more of a part of your desktop. When pinned to your Windows 7 taskbar using Internet Explorer 9, TechPowerUp behaves like an application. Clicking it launches the TechPowerUp front-page, with a TPU button that takes you to the site from wherever. The navigation buttons on IE9 set themselves to match the red color.

Further, right-clicking the TPU button on the Windows 7 taskbar shows you our Jumplist. Here, you can quickly launch the IE9 with your favorite area on TPU. Five of our latest reviews are displayed in a constantly updating list, so you can catch up with our latest content. To install the TechPowerUp IE9 Jumplist integration, simply drag the TechPowerUp favicon or tab from IE9, and drop it on to your Windows 7 taskbar. It stays there and launches TPU in a flash. IE9 sucks ass, still can't disable cleartype that gives text that fuzzy look, chrome and FF are way better.

The problem is not DirectWrite but ClearType and fonts with ClearType optimized hinting. They were designed to look good(subjectively) with pixel snapping. DirectWrite can position glyphs at sub-pixel precision, which nullified the "optimizations".

i get the same problem as him in FF4 but not IE9 - its some kind of problem with the hardware acceleration.

Nice. I plan to try out IE9 a bit and see how it is when loaded up with the essential addons and will try this feature too.

OT: I always install the latest IE, even if I'm not really going to use it. It may be just me, but I notice an improvement in Windows Explorer's performance when I upgrade the IE.
Even the IE8 -> IE9 upgrade I just made has my Windows working a little better IMO.
Probably just me though...

Use Chrome (or FF). Download plugin called IE Tab http://www.ietab.net/

It is technically just a shortcut, but with Jumplists (shortcuts to key areas of the site and reviews), something merely pinning a URL from Chrome or Firefox doesn't give. Also, launching a pinned IE9 jumplist gives you a shortcut back to TPU on the browser navigation bar for the session.

personally i see no real use for this for myself, but i can imagine it being useful on a netbook or tablet - less clicks is certainly useful there.
