Looking for motherboard. Must be LGA775 mATX motherboard that is gauranteed to have the following features in working order:
- USB Keyboard power on feature
- All Fans must be adjustable through bios (being able to regulate fans between 0% to 100% of their speed at given temperature).
- No overclocking (mobo is for work so need stable mobo).
The gigabyte I have does the exact opposite of the three things mentioned above. Systems fans cannot be controlled, USB keyboard power on is not supported and there is LOTS of overclocking which I never plan to do.
Any recommendations please?

Would say to go for an Asus motherboard but I'm not much into intel. Lot of intel guys around here gonna tell you. Asus for me always have been stable for intel and amd.

I don't know of any that had the USB keyboard power feature, all the times I've seen that it was for a PS2 keyboard.

All motherboards also have over clocking features, unless its a dell/hp/etc motherboard, I'd look at the warranty length and see which ones have the better warranties.

And the fans? I know most Asus boards have that, at least my P5Q Pro Turbo, my P8P67 Deluxe, and my ancient A8N-SLi.

Hope this helps!

Gpost3 follow this link i found you a list of motherboards that can handle all your stuff you already have: CPU, Memory, Video card. The list is limited because not a lot of DDR2 able mobo had the PCI-Express 2.0 16X connector to plug in your videocard. So I took liberty to remove the MicroATX factor from the choice and up to you to look at them and the price you are ready to pay. :)

EDIT: Also follow this link to see a matchup I made of the 5 cheapest one and if you dont plan to overclock and ready to pay a little more go with Intel mobo that they normally use in office station computers. So if you dont use mouse and keyboard with the PS/2 connectors (old ones) and only use the USB stuff. I would go for the 4th one in the list the Intel at 89.99. Lot of features like extarnal sata plug, lot of usb ports, onboard lan, sound, video so if your video card die you just remove it and transfer the video plug to onboard video. Even HDMI plug so you could hook it to a big ass TV :p Firewire also AND Micro-ATX.

Overall the best choice i could say and Free shipping so 90$ for a shit load of feature...pardon me the expression.

The pci-express 16X slot dont seems to be 2.0 so i dotn know if your video will fit. go take a look at the manufacturer website and download their manual you gonna see the specs.

after verification wont work. the pci-e 16x is version 1.1 There could be a problem with that i guess. The problem in fact is that you bolter a recent technology video card onto an old stuff motherboard.

Go for this one http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5501864&CatId=1533

???????

PCIE is the same as USB.... there all compatible with each other, 1.1 to 3.0 only the speed changed. 1.1 - 2.0.

i have noticed you give out a lot of wrong/bad advice to people.

thank you sooooo much sly for saving me. I was quite confused... I also found this on our tech power up site:

We also examined how much PCI-E 2.0 x4 (or PCI-E 1.1 x8, older motherboards) would affect the GTX 480. And the result coarsely put is "not much": 8%.

Here is the link. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GTX_480_PCI-Express_Scaling/25.html

I could tell something was wrong with Eric's recommendation because first he said he really doesn't know much about this, then started to make a recommendation. Eric please be careful if you don't know much about these things.

Do you think that ECS would be fine for my card or something a bit faster?

They compatible and retrogradable in speed ok fine but by going to 1.1 instead of 2.0 like your video card you gonna loose some speed on the video card. But I suppose if you dont do heavy graphic stuff it should be fine. You asked for help then i helped the best i can but you should have told you wanted the cheapest not the finest. Its not hard to make a choice because on the newegg website you just look on the left and choose some features for your computer like i did using you cpu, memory and graphic card then it shrink down the choice automatically. So the advice i gave you was based on the hardware you already have in your possession to exactlly fit the specs of those 3 hardwares i used. Thats it :)

Last paragraph of the link you posted :

We also examined how much PCI-E 2.0 x4 (or PCI-E 1.1 x8, older motherboards) would affect the GTX 480. And the result coarsely put is "not much": 8%

So like i told it should be ok for normal graphic stuff :) Go for it :D

No problem. :) I will go with 1.1 since my P35 is also pcie 1.1 only. x16 will provide ample amount of bandwidth for cards upto GTX 480.

The guy want a mobo just to replace it for cheap so lets fnd him a DDR2 mobo ...take a look at his specs under his avatar.

DDR3 RAM is cheaper than DDR2 these days, buy the DDR3 with the mobo and sell the aging DDR2, problem solved.

Edward wake u...he already got the 2X2gigs of memory and dont want to afford a mobo at 89$ so i dont think he would like to afford a mobo AND DDR3 memory.

I don't see the point of the english in that but he clearly wrote at post #10 that the list I gave to him was little bit expensive. So I supposed by logic that he don't wanted to afford more than 89$ or even the one at 53$. Even with all the good will you could never find a brand new motherboard with 4 gigs of ddr3 memory for less than 50$. Maybe with a big luck on e-bay but since the guy seems to don't know pretty much about the mobos it could be too risky for him to bid there.

That's it :D

We are not fighting we just passionately argue :D That happens many times here even between people who know each others since a longue time.
