Alpenföhn is giving final touches to its K2 high-end CPU cooler. The K2 is large-size CPU cooler that resembles the Noctua NH-D14 in design. It uses eight 6 mm thick nickel-plated copper heat pipes that convey heat to two independent aluminum fin arrays. There are two fans that ventilate a fin array each, one pushes air onto the first array, while a second nested between the two arrays, conveys air to the second. Alpenföhn's innovation here is the unique wavy pattern that differently-sized aluminum fins form, probably improving heat dissipation by creating high-pressure areas. The K2 comes with two, WingBoost fans the first one is 120 mm, and the one in the middle is 140 mm. Expect the Alpenföhn K2 to be priced around the €75 mark.

:twitch:

this could seriously kick ass.

I like the sides that aren't flat but are funky shaped.

Oh Alpenfóhn, you like taking my money don't you.

let's see if this thing can beat NHC-14. btw, third picture looks like a two tower building apartment..

Probably toe to toe with Noctua DH-14. It will all depend on how good the base is and if the heatpipes arent cheaped out :)

I like it; weight?

Will it be better than those Noctua DH-14 coolers? ;D

It will probably be around ~4-8C cooler than the Noctua as it has +2 heatpipes & slightly more surface area, given it's 'wavy' design.

Looks a little like the NH-D14, but with black fans and 2 more heatpipes. More heatpipes don't mean superb performance though: just look at the Scythe Mine 2, which has 8.

Scythe mine 2 uses heatpipes ontop of heatpipes, the design is inefficient.

I wonder will there be a DeepCool version.
Alpenföhn does not exist on this side of the world.

looks great! but really concern about the weight on this one

The more weight the longer you can bench ;)

Like that the fans blend in better then the Noutua but I doubt it would be more then 1-2 degree celcius better then the Noctua DH-14.

My left side of the brain "If each new processor generation runs cooler like SandyBridge these type of big coolers may become a little redundant."

My right side of the brain "That looks so sweet! Goodbye megahalems, Hello Apenfohn!"

It's not called right side of the brain for nothing... (do want!)

Fins should have small dents... could make a small difference

Oooooohhhhh, how much do deepcools highend gpu coolers sell for on the high-street where you are?

Will this cooler protrude to the point of making it hard to install RAM?

also how heavy WILL this be? D:

4c more is just wishful thinking unless they make a perfect contact base for this, at best id say 2c.
