Installs take way too long!

Hi all,

As title says, installs are taking way too long.
Any program and game does the same thing.

I will download a program click setup I will normally see the first few windows asking language, accept terms etc. after accepting the terms. The program should start installing immediately well it will take 5min or more. It didnt used to do this.

Anyone has any ideas what is causing this problem?

what kind of installs are we talking? it's hard to beat the wait on a 10gb+ game thats installing.

if you mean light apps like fraps, firefox or vlc for example, you've got me. they should be really fast.

It doesnt really matter the size of the program. It does it with the big games and small apps.
In the games you will see the black background and installation progress window. The installation progress window does nothing for a long time. After 5min or more it will start filling up, and of course at the same time Ill start seeing some game screenshots while the game is finally installing. Well, I hope you understand what I mean.

Runs some test with Winrar and compare to Toms CPU charts.

Run MSCONFIG Shut down some processes and see if you can find what is causing it to hang

honestly I say scrap it and rebuild windozs completely (format - reinstall)

but hey maybe thats just me, Ive probably had plenty of fixable issues in the past and just said "fuck it ill start again"
