Corsair Announces World's First 90GB SATA 6Gb/s SSDs

Corsair, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC gaming hardware market, today announced worldwide retail availability of Force Series 3 and Force Series GT SSDs in 90GB configurations.

Corsair Force Series 3 high-performance SSD upgrades have native support for SATA 6Gb/s, with a maximum sequential read speed of 550MB/s and a maximum sequential write speed of 500 MB/s. The Force Series 3 uses asynchronous flash memory to provide the industry's best 90GB SSD performance value. Force Series GT, designed for enthusiasts who demand the fastest performance available, uses ONFI synchronous flash memory and boasts read speeds of up to 555 MB/s and write speeds of up to 505 MB/s. The use of synchronous flash memory makes the Force Series GT SSD particularly adept at reading and writing non-compressible data, such as video and music files.



All Force Series 3 and Force Series GT SSD models are also backward compatible with SATA 2, and include an easy-to-use 3.5" adapter for use in both notebook and desktop PCs.
"We're happy to add the world's first 90GB SSD to our product lineup," said Thi La, Vice President of Memory Products at Corsair. The 90GB SSD configurations are available from authorized distributors and retailers worldwide at a US suggested retail price of $159 USD for the Force Series 3 90GB and $199 USD for the Force Series GT 90GB. 90GB is a good size if you want to use Intel's Smart Response technology in conjunction with the new z68 motherboards. In fact, the ssd that intel created specifically for SRT is the Intel SSD 311, which is.... 20GB

LOL what? the 120 Gb Force GT is currently $229

I think, that this is a good option. many of us still uses 64gb ssd's to run OS and few progs + games. I dont think that you need to keep your HD videos on SSD if your budget is tight... when the $/GB will go down to "120GB" many will take advantige from cheap "World's First 90GB SATA 6Gb/s SSDs"

If the price is appropriate per GB then I see this as a very good option for most of us. I've bought a 128GB SSD recently and it's maybe a little too much for today(have 50GB spare right now) and 64GB is getting too small. 90GB will be a perfect fit for many people

I run a 90Gb boot drive on an SSD. So far ive got about 40Gb free space. I dont really install a lot of programs on it other then just windows and its updates. all my games are still on my Samsung F3

This better be the first step into starting the manufacturing of 180GB size SSDs. I've been saying this long enough. There's too big a gap between 120 to 240, there is nothing in between to satisfy those of us who need more than 120GB of space but do not want to jump to 240GB because of the huge price increase.

Yep, can't even fit the OS partition on these tiny things.

I'd be more comfortable Raiding 3 1TB F3s. Still slower, but at least I don't have to spread data out even more.
