Last week, Intel released a firmware update (0362) for its SSD 320 Series products that it claimed would address the "8 MB bug", which results in a data loss with the drive not being able to see more than 8 MB of the installed NAND flash memory. After application of the firmware update, some reported back to Intel Support Community claiming that the new firmware did not effectively address the 8 MB bug, and has in some cases, made the drives even more unreliable. The users note that a SSD self-test cycle by the drive is causing Windows to crash with a bluescreen (BSOD). Intel has not responded to these posts.

in lame'o'meter Intel scores 10 out of 10 points...

Save face Intel, release SB-E early!

Intel just took a very aggresive overprovisioning method hehe :D

I really want to buy my first SDD but this stuff scares me away from the idea. I'm really looking forward to the future and I hope that Intel can get this resolved for owners. I feel bad for them since these are supposed to be awesome when they work properly.

There are always other brands out there, thankfully. Seems like the Intel 320 and the new SandForce SF2xxx SSDs are having some issues, but I'm pretty sure the Intel 510 is fine. My dad just bought a Crucial M4 64GB for the boot drive of his new server (with a RAID 5 array of 4 750GB drives for data) and it works great.

I bought and using 320 300GB SSD since June, working ok so far :)
Updated fw last week, will see. :D
