Microsoft, having topped the holiday sales of all next generation consoles, is enjoying their popularity. Thanks to a bunch of great titles, good hardware, and an awesome online community, the Xbox series is in a much better position than it was back in 2001 when it was first released. However, Microsoft is also claiming that 50% of all Xbox360 owners never owned an original Xbox. "So there are lots of new people coming in...what we're actually finding is that our customer set is broadening, which we think is important," says Microsoft's Chris Satchell.

Xbox was like that "other" console. It has nothing interesting about it, so people just bought PS2s instead.
Xbox 360 however is actually better than the original Xbox, so more people buy it.

I'm one of them now!

back in the day the XBox didnt have any pedigree so many owners stuck to the PS2 plus the ps2 had dvd playback when dvd was new for xbox you needed a silly remote i know alot of people who bought the ps2 because it was cheaper than buying a dvd player at the time. for me when i tested an Xbox with the horrible massive original joypad it totally put me off the console all together but of the consoles out now an xbox 360 would be my choice and i am a nintendo fan.

Gimmie deh PS2 controller any day over any other controller.

I used to say that, too, until I tried the 360 controller.

I never bought the original XBox. I couldn't stand the controllers either, even when they came out with the smaller version, it felt too big in my hands.

Hold a PS2 controller, then grab a 360 controller. Case closed.

360 ctrlr > Gamecube ctrlr > ps2 ctrlr

I must admit, I love the gamecube controller as well - much more interesting and comfortable than the PS2. We'll see about the xbox's when it arrives.

the ps2 controller is just a ps1 with analogue anyway, they could of at least revamped them a bit.

I had a ps2 and my brother bought the Xbox. Had some cool games on it and the like, but it wasnt better than my ps2. Now the 360 is awesome, games are beautiful and fun too. I own one of these now, as my PS2 has finally died after 9 years of use <G>.

Never owned a Xbox but now in love with my xbox360.

I still dont see what all the hype surrounding Halo is about?

Half-Life 2 anyone?
