I voted waste of money but if your only playing dx10 games then hey....

Dx10 is still pretty good imo. But a dx11 card will play dx10 even better.

A GTX260 played BFBC2 well with a quad core Q9650 (1080p, mostly high, 2xAA) @ 4GHz..that's DX10 and you with DX11 cards might get lower fps... enough? There's so much effects, lightning, smoke in BF3 for example, dunno how a DX10 card translates that...but my SLI GTX460s work hard at 99% usage (85fps, 2048x1152 rez, mostly high, except shadows)) ...maybe DX10 cards dont show it at all and delivers good fps

Benchmark Scores i've got a shitload of them in 15 years of TPU membership
It was the top baddass card of its time (I know I've got one) but today performs roughly like a GTX 460 1GB sans DX11.

As the 460 is built with newer technology that uses much less power, runs cooler, quieter and comes on a much smaller card, the 285 is a tricky buy and the following conditions must be met:

Why everyone keeps saying that? The only real thing is the power usage. How do you know that it will run cooler and and quieter? This is BS. These things depend on the card, not on the generation. I am tired of people saying that every newer generation card will run cooler and quiter - what a load of BS. It is custom.

I hope your purchase was good, i would also buy GTX285 for 110 $ if i did not find other good cards to buy. Keep in mind that GTX285 will not beat neither GTX460 1 Gb or HD5850, it will only be equal to GTX460 768 Mb or HD5830.

BTW check this out (my own benchmarks):

My 2 gtx285s did beautiful with every new game released, until BF3. Choke, big time. Get 2 gtx460s for the same price, much better. I want 2 gtx470s or higher to replace. Go with your wallet.
