A report by 3DCenter.org, which takes into account the specifications of NVIDIA's GK104 GPU, based on clock-speed and specs. leak estimated its shader compute power to be 17% higher than that of AMD's Tahiti in its Radeon HD 7970 avatar (4.46 TFLOPs single-precision floating point). Based on the said specifications, the report also hypothesized things such as memory bandwidth, ROP performance, and texture performance; and compared it to those of the Radeon HD 7970 and Radeon HD 7950.

So what does that mean when the two are compared all around?

Do the math.

If this is true then the GK100/110 will be a compute monster, paired with a wider memory bus, well... it makes a lot of sense because Nvidia has always made big dies in favour of compute power, a refined Fermi (aka Kepler) will make for a nice CUDA monster :) that's what I'm looking for.

Can't wait to see what one of these bad boys can do in Folding@Home (once released and supported of course).

Patiently waiting for reviews/benchmarks

LoL is that all they can come up with, 17% faster or not i still see only ATI cards and no nvidia cards so it aint nothing till it's released..

When is 7990 coming? Sorry its OT

why only the green bar beyond 100% and the others is around 70%. imba?

Last time I heard talking about it was Q2 2012

I hope they (nvidia) have an answer for that. Something better than 17% :/

Only time will tell. This is just hype to me.

The lower mem bandwidth makes sense, GK104 has a narrower memory bus than Tahiti

Although I guess a direct competition would be gtx 690

Colors are

Red: Bandwidth
Yellow: ROP-Performance
Blue: Texture Performance
Green: Computational efficiency

All according to google translate.

I guess you'd better hope for a multi-sku 680; GTO, GS, GT, Ultra, etc.
I'd be interested to see how things roll out, I haven't ruled out an NV gpu.

So kelper is supposed to be really efficient?

Really fast. For efficiency, we have to take power specifications into account. One does not simply walk into estimate power draw.

Going too make a guess here.

1) it will not overclock much more then stock.

2) retailers will only get like 10x for sale at time. ( hard 2 find & wont force the price of the 7970s down)

3) by the time it is out, all the "juiced" 7970 (Lightnings / Toxics ) will be out.

I dont care about power but i do want a 680 now lol.

Kyle at HardOCp continues posting about the GTX680. Yes, it seems it's gonna be called 680.

This is what he says:

"GK104 will be 680.

Seeing some benchmarks show 7970 in the lead, mostly in tessellated situations there, other "normal" synthetic 3D benchmarks and gaming benchmarks show 680 faster. Driver advancements still happening as well for 680."

Memory bandwith, ROP perf and texture perf are about 25% worse than the 7970. That puts its actual gaming performance between the 7850 and the 7870.

Probably more like 7870 to 7950 gaming performance.
Approx. 7950 performance with a good factory overclock.
But better compute.
Slots right into the performance segment where the 560Ti was, in relation to the 6950 and 6970.
If it's going to be called the 680, then they can't be using the same numbering/naming scheme as the last two generations. Looks to me like a multiple model 680 line is coming, or not, depending on what AMD does.

That would be my surmise.

Yes, can someone clear this up instead of ignoring these bars on the graph? :D Looks like it will significantly slower than 7970.

Btranr whats with the title? YOu should've said: 'GTX680 looks crap compared with 7970.' :D

Have you read my above post citing Kyle?
