Core i7-3770K "Ivy Bridge" Offers Solid Performance and Efficiency

Who the hell cares in bulldozer is faster then Phenom II. Thats a given, obviously. And in some benchmarks core for core performance is slower then Phenom II. Read more then one review, not just anandtechs. Bulldozer was meant to compete and hopefully beat intels options, but it massively failed to do that. It may have come in pretty close in some respects, but it still failed.

You obviously have no clue what is going on in this thread, because your post is misdirected. It would have helped if you read all the posts thoroughly before responding.

Trickson, brought up performance of Phenom II based on Anandtech, so perhaps your post should have been directed at him? Yes/No

Sanadanosa, was agreeing with Tricksons analysis of Anandtech's Phenom II performance, so perhaps your "Read more then one review" jibe should have been directed at him? Yes/No.

You either will ignore my response or pretend you didnt read it as a lame excuse not to apologise. Sigh.

nah, I know what I read.

nah, I know what I read.

Well you either misread or you are saying I'm lying. Which one is it?

If you are saying I'm lying I will copy and paste the quotes from Tricksons and Sanadanosa original posts and make you look even more stupid.

If you are saying you misread it, we can chalk it up to a mistake, we can shake hands and go our separate way.

Dude take a chill pill will you? get off this! I have. Or I will put you back on my ignore list. And you do not need to copy and PASTE every thing some one says! Just CHILL OUT!

With ivy coming out soon and the new 3D Transistors this thing is going to be great and then the world will see. Man I can hardly wait!

Didn't I ask you all to stay on topic and to stop insulting each other. We all know BD isn't perfect and you all simply need to drop it. It's just pissing everyone off and it has nothing to do with the thread's topic. I'm done asking you to stop flaming.

Now back to ivy bridge. I am hoping ot get one of these 3770k and a Z77 motherboard, because I heard that IB may not work on P67.

Intel and most OEM's have continually stated that IB will be supported on any SB-capable motherboard, that has UEFI. I keep hearing people reiterate that they're not sure, but I see no reason why they would think that.

Not from what I read about it. They should work just fine!

I dont care about Bulldozers performance, I just dont appreciate nvidiaintelftw calling me a liar.

Trickson was obviously referring Phenom IIs performance in the Anandtech review. I don't appreciate nvidiaintelftw saying he wasnt talking about the Anandtech review when he obviously was. If you cant understand that, well.

Edit:

Do you do anything on these forums, other then jump on people.

anyways bye im done.

Obviously, you read back and saw I was correct and realised your argument had no basis - in essence you made a mistake. You are forgiven.
Well no it is not. Look dude you are a smart guy and you seem like you are cool enough, So just drop it please. You really do sound like an ULTRA FANBOY!

Do I sound more fanboy than the person with TWO multi-national corporations in his name?

nvidia-intel-ftw

Or I will put you back on my ignore list.

I think that is for the best :)

I heard there was a possibility it might not work with P67. Z68 however your good if you get the update.

I'll say this once and after this if someone wants to post in an inappropriate manner I will just act.

Stay on topic.

This is your only warning.

Thank you.

I wasn't planning on going IB since people stated there would be no benefit over a 2500k other than power consumption, but this does look promising...

It's a worthwhile upgrade if you have a mediocre 2500k that has a low ceiling requiring higher volts. Plus for video encoding the extra 4 HT threads do help.

But for a good 2600k the difference is not that great so far from what we've seen.

It does sport better power consumption at stock speeds. Read my earlier posts, they explain how at similar voltages as SB why IVB is most likely going to emit more heat. It's a waiting game now, all we can do is wait and see how it really turns out.

I really hope this manufacturing node will bring us higher 24/7 overclocks, atleast 5,5 GHz on water would be awesome :)

Does anyone know what the max safe voltage for these 22nm chips will be? 1.4? 1.35? 1.3? Or will it not be too different to the current 1.52? Or is there simply no way to guess at this point...

Smaller process = more circuit resistance and as you increase voltage, current increases because the effect of resistance on voltage is less. However more current means more heat at the same power level. I'm sure there is a point of diminishing returns where 3D transistors doesn't help anymore since the circuitry is still a smaller size. I'm expecting it to be lower if the tjmax of IVB is the same as SB, however smaller wires allow for higher clocks, but have an increased impedance because of the reasons I mentioned before (resistance and impedance are directly related, resistance in a dc circuit vs an ac circuit and yes, a computer's clock is technically an AC signal and you have to take skin effect into account. (Skin effect is the following: With a varying voltage signal, electrons are pushed towards the outer most layer (skin) of the wire it is traveling through, thus not using the entire medium for electrical transport, which is another reason why temperatures increase as clock speeds go up, skin effect becomes more prevalent and impedance increases.)
