Well ugly isn't the word...I guess "gaudy" would be more proper. It really is a matter of opinion and IMO gold for me belongs on an elegant ring on my wife's finger.

I really like their "Black Boards" But hell enough with the gold...it really does nothing except better conductivity for connectors. Better electrical conductivity does not translate to better heat conductivity and/or dissipation. Gold on the H/S's is just gaudy..they shoulda stayed with black or even better; brushed nickel for the H/S's like the CPNS 9900 Max CPU cooler by Zalman, now that would have been Uber-Sexy!

I wouldn't enter a contest to win that board because in all reality even though it is PCIe 3.0 ready, and has some impressive specs it's still ugly. I'd probably sell it and get another manufacturers board with similar specs. I just bought a 1 year old Crosshair IV Extreme which I think looks way better aesthetically.

Might just go all out with a totally chromed case and thro this inside for contrast....,

I guess what gets me more than anything is that you've got 3 different shades of gold. One shade on the coolers, one on the socket (which given you'll never see once installed), and one on the I/O. In fact, if the picture isn't making my eyes perceive something that isn't there, there may be a 4th shade on the electrical components (capacitors, etc.).

I have never gotten over the run of crappy boards ECS produced 7 to 8 years ago with their post problemms that they was unable to fix. I doubt I will eveer use an ECS board again the taste was so bad.
