With eager OEMs such as ASUSTek, HP, Acer, and Lenovo breathing down its neck, Intel is reportedly pulling forward the official launch date of its 3rd Generation Core processor family based on 22 nm "Ivy Bridge" silicon, to the 23rd of April, from its older date of 29th April. 23rd April will be the day Intel announces all its processor models originally slated for the 29th.

Notebook OEMs are expected to launch their products based on these chips at the earliest, by May. The date of market-availability of these chips in the retail channel, however, remains unclear. One possibility is that Intel will announce and make these chips available on the same day (23rd), while another possibility is that it announces these chips on the 23rd, allows the media to digest them (by posting reviews), and open them up for sale on the 29th. Two models every PC enthusiast and their cat are looking out for, are the Core i7-3770K and Core i5-3570K.

Looking forward to the launching of 14nm on 23 april 2014 and 10nm 2016. everything else, not so much.

good news for ivy bridge fans

hoping for AsRock to release BIOS updates for z68 boards for IB support :D

If Asus does not announce the Maximus 5 Extreme, my 3770K will just be sitting around collecting dust.

Come on Asus you only have eleven days!Ahhhhhhh!

I hope they will talk about Ivy-E soon then, socket 2011 really needs to step up from 6 cores on the i7 lineup.

Jiihááá

Ouu yeah. Awesome news. Every time there were some news about dates and Intel i was afraid of more DELAYING but this is an awesome one. I know there is so much ppl looking forward to theirs 3570K......and than to Diablo 3 and now it's almost here!:toast:

Diablo's 3 recommended CPU is a Core 2 Duo :)

yea, its too bad i been using i7-3770k and its Xeon (E3-1230 v2) equivalent for over a month already.

D3

Fine, fine, but with 3570K I can start 8 Diablos and run with 8 chars to Hellforge and make runes=D
..What...it isn't D2?

It's not launching until early 2013...

Can't wait to grab a 3770K and overclock the shit out of the mother4ucker.:rockout:

Throw in a 790/8970 and not even the 16 core Durango will be able to come close to it.

hmmm, nice news for intel fans..
but i dont think my current processor need to be upgraded rushingly :D

Had an email from Intel who have confirmed that no such announcement has been made. If it is true though theres nothing to confirm this as yet. *sigh*

Lol @ Internet and speculation.

Intel won't tell you (OCUK, a retailer) things that don't concern you. If you say that Intel hasn't communicated anything new to you, then it can only mean one thing: April 23 is product launch and review NDA date; April 29 is retail availability date.

I want 3570K + Z77 NAOO

I'm so eager for it... so eager

You may indeed be correct however my question to intel was along the lines of "is IB launch moved to 23rd?" Response in short "no".

Because in context of Intel-retailer relations, "launch" = the day you can sell/take orders from end-users. That differs from "launch" in Intel-press context.

Did you hear something about the M5E? Tell me pleeeeeese! I'm dyin' here!

Sorry, my bad, it's the Formula that won't be out until May at the earliest.

Not sure if they're planning an Extreme version as yet, but I know Asus has more boards coming, of which at least one will have Thunderbolt, alongside Gigabyte and MSI of course.
