Pictures of parts of a motherboard using Intel's P35 Express chipset have been posted at Chile Hardware:

Motherboards featuring the upcoming Intel P35 Express variant from the upcoming Bearlake-family desktop chipsets will be some of the first to support DDR3 memory. They are officially slated for late 2007.

Apparently the chipset not only supports DDR3, but is also backwards compatible with DDR2. However, both cannot be used at the same time. The leaked motherboard supports up to four sticks of DDR3 memory rated at 800 MHz or 1066 MHz.

It will also support up to a 1333 MHz front-side-bus on Socket T, also known as LGA775 processors. LGA775 processors supported by the upcoming P35 Express-based board include Intel Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad and Celeron 4xx-series. There is no mention if previous Pentium 4, Pentium D and Celeron D processors for LGA775 remain supported on the new platform.

late 2007, thats enough time, oh well

OK, I would have thought the speeds on DDR3 would be starting at 1333 on memory or something like that...

Ya thats kinda a let down...

There is very little difference between DDR2 and DDR3, the performance increase will not be all that much, but it will be more efficent. DDR4 should have a much greater increace.

Not to mention that the CL latency of DDR 2 is not even below 3 yet, thats the highest point DDR is at and I belive that DDR 2 can at least get to 2.5.

And...if you can get DDR 2 at good speeds...its eather $500...or its a really small amount. My $200 ram is 5-5-5-15...sure its at 3-3-3-12...but still.

(Ok im ready for the but the Mhz is up to 4 fimes faster  )

hopefully this chipset will support 2x16 pcie + 1x8 or even better 3x16

WTF dos how come dailytech ends up been the source of this? if it clearly has chilehardware watermarks?

fix it please

you should always cite the original source. . i fixed it

Wolfsdale - Q2
DDR3 - Q3

Now what about DDR3 and SLI??

Looks like is ideal to wait to late 07 for a computer upgrade...dx10 games will be out and live, and these new comps will play them with out a sweat.

well looks like i might have found a new motherboard and just in time for christmas...looks like the ol' agp system will have to suffice till then
