With the obvious intention of clearing out inventories of previous-generation Core i7-2600K and Core i7-2700K "Sandy Bridge" processors, Intel decided to cut prices of these chips. The cuts aren't exactly significant, but just enough to restore the two models' price-performance ratios post-Ivy Bridge. The Core i7-2600K gets a price cut of around 10€, sending it down to 255-260€. The Core i7-2700K, on the other hand, got a price cut of 15€, sending its price down to around 275€.

for me price cut its 30 or 40 € not 10 or 15 its a joke?

10 euro's isn't even 2 beer's! Damn you intel

Don't buy ;)

I'm waiting for next gen, what's it called, Haswell?

I just hope it's a significant improvement over the SBs and not some marginal improvement like the IBs :shadedshu.

I'm happy with my sub 500$ 3820 + ASUS X79 combo

Lol Look what I'm running now, think it is safe to say I'll see an improvement :)

I don't understand people who upgrade every 6 month's and complain about small perf gain's

Well i hope they throw hyperthreading out of the equation. They can instead design something else which might work. Like Bulldozer with proper implementation because bulldozer has a lot of potential but AMD just wasted it.

what socket Intel intend to use for Haswell? is it going to be 1155? if yes its going to be worth the wait, else just buy a 2700K and a 1155 board, its going to be worth more than the IVB setup, since the heat dissipation in IVB is a problem.

who cares. 10eur = nothing for me

You think you'll see an improvement? Look at what I'm running!
I don't get it either. Every couple of years is enough to keep up for me. But if you're enthusiest and need the latest and greatest, then yeah, I can see why they are disappointed, but really, I didn't expect much of an improvement going to a new manufacturing process. Haswell will improve on that to what people would expect :)

dude, what country are you living in?? Here the beer is less than 1 Euro and best of Europe (CZ) :toast::toast:

I was really hoping for some significant price drops on these chips. Grr.

been to Rota Spain once, sold a local spanish beer there. It was leaps and bounds better than corona, which they also sold.

What, you would have rather not have a price cut?

given the minor improvement of IVB im surprised they didn't INCREASE the price :nutkick:

Already went 3770K, arriving May Day. still shaky.

Seeing as most game's these day's are console port's the need for the absolute best hardware is not so much, all you need is a decent amount of RAM and a good GFX card and you are pretty much set to have same or better performance than a console ;) If all you do is game anyways.

I was being sarcastic, sorry :o I should have added the  at the end of my comment. How much is a pint of beer where you live? Not a 250ml glass, i'm no lady :p

Corona is p1ss in a bottle! How they even call it beer is beyond me! Like most successfull businesses they have a great marketing department so ;)
