Theoretically it could be possible you only need ~30mb/s for 1080p while USB 2.0 is capable of 60 at the high end

nah it aint, USB 2.0 can only do about 30-35MB/s in any one direction

true, but USB 2.0 is two directional. you arent going to get 60MB/s in ONE direction, which a monitor needs. its still capped to the same data limits.



the 480Mb is a marketing trick, much like wifi. they advertise the peak speeds it can do in both directions simultaneously, not what its capable of in one direction only (which this monitor would need/use)
