From the launch day server meltdown to the way everyone you know seems to be playing, it's pretty clear that Diablo III is quite popular. But just how popular? Blizzard announced today that it sold 3.5 million copies within the first 24 hours, which supposedly makes it the fastest-selling PC game of all time. On top of those 3.5 million copies were another 1.2 million doled out free to World of Warcraft Annual Pass subscribers. After a week, Blizzard says, Diablo III was up to 6.3 million players--not including South Korean game rooms, where it's estimated to have a 39% share. "We're definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live," CEO Mike Morhaime said in the announcement.

"We also regret that our preparations were not enough to ensure everyone had a seamless experience when they did so. I want to reaffirm our commitment to make sure the millions of Diablo III players out there have a great experience with the game moving forward, and I also want to thank them for their ongoing support." As well as rolling out sneaky little balance updates, Blizzard is investigating reports of nasty hacks, and preparing to launch the real-money auction house on May 29.

Always remember kids, PC gaming is dead.

And they are constantly babbling that PC gaming is dead and that everyone just pirates everything on PC. Well, up yours...

And the worst Diablo game ever!

Always remember kids, PC gaming is dead.

Blizzard releases a game every ten years so if PC will survive the next ten years we'll say it again: PC gaming is not dead!

I do recall some people saying D3 was going to be epic fail.
Guess they were wrong, eh?

PC gaming has been on the rise for years. AAA PC exclusives have not. Problem is people don't look at stats of the over all picture. All they see "OMG HALO 15 IS ON MY XBOX-WANNABE PC 500 1337 EDITION! PC GAMING IS DEAD!"

Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing was an epic fail but it was also considered a market success. Crap sells, literally (*cough*fertilizer*cough*).

If anything, I would say console games are dead. Games that come out now are just re-hashes of older versions of the game using the same hardware. There's no gameplay improvement or better graphics, just a few extra roman numerals.

Halo was the biggest turd i've ever seen. Lame laggy graphics, repeating levels (did they just use copy& past through half the game?), lame aliens etc etc. Only good thing about it was the section where you first meet those creepy crawlies and the air to air combat in multiplayer. Other than that, nothing to brag about.

The first one and the second ones were OK but after that it got very dump and repetitive as you mentioned. The GFX for its time was decent as well. I still have halo 1 on PC at home.

Just...

..because something sells good doesnt mean it is good.

Ppl bought D3 cause they believed in Blizzard and they played and liked D2 (or/and D1).

Actually its not bad game, its fine recreational fun. Problem is, its not much Diablo..

And another bigger problem is horribly flawed launch of game itself. Plus necessity to be online even when you want to play singleplayer. As you are playing "single-player" on Blizzard server. How retarded is that?

So retarted that some people on this forum have damn near 100 hours game play since it launched. The owner of this website being one of them.

I myself have almost 30 hours.

After reading the title of the news i remembered the 90's, Guns and Roses Released the double album "Use your Illusion"...

But how many are actually able to play

I don't play Battlefield, WoW or D3. It feels like I'm not even human anymore. :(

Great. Devs got a reason to use always online DRM in their games.

To be fair we knew D3 would be like WoW. At least I assumed it would. And the MP is a fair portion of the game (at least Blizz wants it to be, with good reason). For games that have no multiplayer ialways on DRM would be bad.

I didnt realize that multiplayer would turn all items into McDonald style burgers. Pity.

diablo 3 really isnt a diablo game. it is more of a WoW experience. torchlight 2 will be a lot like diablo 2 with but with updated graphics and a lighter story line at less than half the cost with a real single player mode and lan mode. but i think we are all beating a dead horse with these diablo 3 threads...
