Red-faced Australian retailer caught advertising PS3s with an Xbox360

Australian retailers know just as well as we do that the PS3 will come to Australia and other PAL territories on March 23rd. Harvey Norman Bondi Junction decided to take advertising to a new level. In what they call "an innocent mistake", Harvey Norman took an Xbox360, a piece of cardboard, and called it a PS3. Of course, they weren't selling the "display model". Good thing too, considering they were caught by their own customers. Harvey Norman probably used an Xbox360 and a piece of cardboard to advertise the PS3 due to the lack of Australian availability of the PS3, as well as the price of getting an American/Japanese one to Australia.

a shop in hull had a real ps3 on display,but they got "told" by someone to remove it.wonder why?

haha, thats H F@#KiN C -_- i mean...the box...is clearly noticable...they could've done better to hide it...(the xbox 360 that is) but hey you gotta do what you gotta do

now that i look at it ...the only "cardboard" i see is the attachment that the PS3 "cardboard" resides on, the PS3 CUT OUT looks like a sheet of printed paper :P glued to cardboard!
 
They print out a picture of the PS3 and they are somehow at fault?
 
I don't really see the problem with that. It's funny that they used a 360 to hold up the cardboard with the PS3 on it, but why does anyone care?
 
WHY isn't the TV showing that the Xbox is driving? I'd love to see the game that is supposed to be a PS3 game! LOL

Just goes to show that the Xbox 360 is really just an advanced version of yesterdays paperweight :laugh:

but yeah...for Harvey Norman thats pretty lame, Gerry Harvey can totally afford it.

I have to agree that he could have used something else to elevate that PS3 photo instead of an expensive 360.

We dont use glass enclosures...theyr a thing of the past and theyr expensive

Stores leave all stuff out on shelves with a bit of steel wire that connects to them somehow + a badge to set off the alarm at the front door of the store if they do choose to steal it.

It would definately be secured like that.
 
Why not just import a PS3 and then display it in a bulletproof glass cabinent with infra red and laser protection?

firstly, the cost of the bulletproof glass alone would be at least one or two times the cost of the PS3.

secondly, i dont think lasers are used any more in security setups, as infrared performs the same role and
i) cant be fooled (rerouted with mirrors like a laser can)
ii) is more versatile
iii) alot cheaper

lastly, importing the PS3 isnt required to advertise its availability for preordering
