New modder, even newer case

ok so i have built my new computer my first custom built ever. the computer is sitting on a lid for another case i got until my case gets here..(will be here tuesday)...so i wanna prepare by asking for some reviews about what i wanna do to it.

this is the case i ordered. Its a cheap little case i ordered because i had no money could barely afford that one and it has a side window.. i love side windows (its also my first case ive ever had other than a branded one...(dell, compaq, emachine etc) i hate the silver look all on the inside. So i am concidering painting the whole interior in a solid black color. I dont know how to paint it..(spray paint maybe?..could someone tell me how). What do yall think of this idea? ive never modded a case before other than maybe adding fans (if u call that modding).

Clean it and make sure there is no dirt or fingerprints on it. I would use a 'clean steel' primer. Put a few coats of that on (in a dust free enviornment).

Then coat it with whatever spray paint you want.

Use masking tape to tape off anything you don't want to paint.

the best to paint is to spray it when it's brand new..before any dust and dirt come inside..

O and most of the stuff inside is probably rivitted. So you'll have to remove the front and side panels, and most likely tape off the top.

ya..i knew about the masking tape. id prolly remove all panels then just go over the whole thing. i thought there was some form of sanding involved

nope just prime the bare metal surfaces and then paint.

I think you would wet sand if you are clear coating like a car? Not sure if theres a need for that.

I know I have seen 3 part spray can kits with the multi-color reflective paints and a clear coat. No need to sand with that I think. But you should always prime it first

k and ya i think it is with a clear coat ive seen some stuff need to be sanded because it roughs up the surface so the paint can stick to it....idk ill prolly enlist the help of my grandfather. he has an air brush and paints stuff all the time..mostly model planes but im sure he knows more than me

(sorry for double posting) but how would you prime it?....primer?...lol and is clean steel required...can u just wash it down with soap and water real good...

also about how long does it take for spray paint to dry and how many coats should i put on

There'll be no sanding or scrubbing involved - by 'clean steel' I'll make it clear now, what's required is BARE steel, which you already have. A good coat of PlastiKote Black Sandable Primer would probably be more than good enough for what you want, it gives a nice matt surface finish, is relatively durable and can fill small marrs in the surface of the metal.

k...i have been playing around and have spray painted some plastic bay doors, power button and this piece of metal out of my case all with black outdoor spray paint. No primer. mostly just to get the feel of how to do it, ill prolly make my way over to lowes and buy some new spray paint and primer

Off paints...

Dremel off those back vents for the fans... your airflow will be greatly increased.

ya i had planned to do something.....the design is crappy..will prolly buy 2 grills with very little material to them and do as u say and cut out the middle of the ports

Looks good enough. I think you can easily prep it up with a spray paint.
