Corsair Announces Force Series GS SSDs

Corsair, a worldwide designer and supplier of high-performance components to the PC hardware market, today announced the Force Series GS solid-state drives (SSDs). The new SSDs, which offer the fastest overall performance in Corsair's SandForce-based lineup, will initially ship in capacities of 180 GB and higher. As with other Force Series drives, the Force Series GS SSDs are based on the SandForce SF-2200 SSD Processor, but add toggle NAND flash memory to boost random write speeds up to an amazing 90,000 IOPs.

The Force Series GS SSDs feature SATA 6 Gb/s connectivity for compatibility and performance, TRIM support to maintain performance over time, and lower power operation for longer battery life. Their 2.5" form factor, combined with an included 3.5" adapter, allow easy installation into notebooks or into desktop PCs.

The solid-state design of Corsair SSDs enable them to deliver faster data read and write speeds which can reduce software load and PC startup times. And because SSDs have no moving mechanical parts, they help laptops run cooler, run longer on batteries, and resist data loss from bumps.

Availability

The Force Series GS SSDs are immediately available in capacities of 180 GB, 240 GB, 360 GB, and 480 GB. Prices (in USD) in the United States start at $189.99 for 180 GB, $239.99 for 240 GB, $349.99 for 340 GB and $489.99 for 480 GB capacities.

It says "faster" random write speed.. Im 100% sure that increase is not noticeable in anyway possible.

This indeed looks attractive... But on second thoughts, I'd still go for Samsung 830... Sadly I could only afford a 128GB for now... I really think 180GB is a pretty sweet spot in terms of price, performance and capacity...

when at least 500 gb becomes "affordable" I'll consider it.. And by then I'll likely have to say "when 1 tb becomes affordable" because everything keeps using more space..
I'd really like to move into SSD's but 180 gb, just doesn't seem like enough to me and the 500 is crazy expensive still. I pay that for a top end gpu.. XD

Just a thought...

How stable is Sand-Force? Any improvements??? If not, I will stay away from Sand-Force chip and continue using Crucial and their M4 SSD for another 3 years.

Never had issues with my SF based drive, I dont know why people claim its very unstable and it BSOD's on a regular basis.. mine has never done it.

That was along time when the latest sandforce controller released. There were a lot of problems. Most have been fixed with recent firmware.
