Ahead of its launch, details of the newest addition to Dell's Ultrasharp family of monitors, the 27-inch U2713HM were leaked to the web thanks to a mix-up by the company website's support and drivers section. The details reveal the U2713HM to be a 27-inch monitor with 2560 x 1440 pixels native resolution, based on an IPS LCD panel with LED-illumination and matte black screen surface, with DisplayPort, HDMI, and dual-link DVI for inputs. Most of its other features, including stand design, resemble those of the other launched Ultrasharp series, such as the U2212HM and U2412M.

Nice. IPS, LED, no VGA. Bezel width looks to be tolerable and even all-around making it a decent for multi-monitor in landscape or portrait.

Source says D-SUB = VGA

I was hoping that there would be a 2560x1440 in a smaller format in 2012. I do wish there was a greater choice of screen at 2560+

wow and I just got the U2412M! This monitor and a 2nd GTX680 would be my dream right now!

Finally. 120Hz would make this monitor AWESOME!!

anybody want to bet on the price?.. I think this will compete with the ZR2740w(650-700$) but will be priced lower than it (similar to U2412M undercutting the ZR2440w)..

guessing(read 'hoping') around 550 for this one..

I think the "M" on the end is like the 2412M. eIPS vs standard IPS. So definitely priced competitively.

I think this could hit $499 or lower on a promotion.

^ paritally right as it denotes aspect, besides the U2412M there is also U2312HM, 2212 etc, 'HM' is used for 16:9 aspect & 'M' for 16:10 aspect according to Dell naming.. but will HM branding result in competitive price, based on the trend, yes..

2560 x 1440 is 16:9, hence 2713HM..

Partially correct. The "M" has only been used on eIPS panels. You can compare this to standard IPS

U2410 vs U2412m - They're both available now, both 16:10, but the "m" is the eIPS.

I can almost guarantee the U2711 will still be available after the U2713hm comes out as it'll be IPS vs eIPS.

e-IPS or not, we don't know yet in the case of 2713HM.. u might be right, lets see.. but i agree U2711 will stay for sometime like U2410

Want a refresh of "true" IPS screens. The U2711 is long in the tooth...

Do want a 2880x1800 ultrasharp, please Dell refresh your lineup!

Been real close to getting a new monitor. Now I have to wait and see what the price is on this one.

Hopefully they can match Samsung for the AG coating this time.

If this is an eIPS screen, would a $500-$550 MSRP still be a pipe dream? :o

UPDATE: the U2713HM has been listed in the Dell-Taiwan shopping site for 27810 NTD/TWD (taiwanese dollar) - see translated here

no surprises, its an LED IPS with 99% sRGB color gamut.. stand similar to U2412M.. features D-SUB, DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort, 4 USB 3.0 ports.

price of 27,810 NTD (929$) in the site indicates it might not be value oriented. its also more expensive than current price of U2711-25,999.. just to give a comparison the U2412M is 12,999NTD(434$).. so final price might hover around 850$ in the US..

so much for hoping..

The 99% sRGB color gamut is the exact same as the U2412m. (82% of CIE1976). For reference, the U2410 is 110% and the U2711 is also 110% (also of CIE1976)

I still say that once everything launches we'll see the U2713HM as a 'less expensive version' of the U2711.

For reference:
U2410 = $549
U2412m = $369

U2711 = $999

If we assume a similar price ratio, the U2713 would be about $670.

My prediction: Launch price of $699 - $749.

Darn was hoping for $500 looks like Dell hasn't seen catleap threads :p

They do not target the same market, also Dell has a premium because it offers you a stellar warranty backed with a zeropixel policy.

Euro launch - EUR 599. That's the "first up" pin-board price. Once stock is in across multiple vendors the price will come down.

If it is an 8-bit panel and does NOT have PWM flicker and has minimal back-light bleeding and uniform lighting and a good OSD menu and is less than $750, consider it sold.

IPS screens not so good for 3D shooters or movies....To much screen lag...
