don't think its real, but it is possible

but could you imagine if it was and it ended up in their competitors hands, microsoft would be pretty screwed even though its still not final

thats why I don't think its real, microsoft would have known and shut that auction down and hunted down the seller

yeah and then we would need a 500w external giant power brick to go along with it.

Well the old 360 and PS3 didn't even use modern graphics by the time it launched. Sony just slapped a G70 off the shelf in. M$ was the only one who sorta invested ahead since the GPU combined tech used in ATI's HD2000 series and the X1900s.

It wouldn't be bad if they were using high end GPUs from the current era since by the time they'd launch we'd be maybe another 2 gens ahead. Prices would drop. But using midrange chips now...ehhh.

Sony looking to go an APU is interesting but performance is not going to be stellar. The one factor I like about that is the possibility of upgrading. Unless they insist on soldering direct to board it would be neat if the PS4 had a ZIF socket. Could drop in a better APU on your own and get a speed boost.

Gonna be a boring next gen at this rate. They'll be happy because they'll literally be breaking even on the consoles from day one but we won't be seeing a big jump in game visuals like we could have.

Someone got "roped" into that deal.
Now there's a real "greenhorn".
"Swashbuckled" again.

Perhaps the best though, since Durango means "Water Town",...The buyer must be a bit "Wet Behind the Ears".

20K?... are your fucking kidding me, the xbox dev kit wouldn't cost that much.

The Dev kit Absolutely wouldn't cost that much!!!

And that POS desktop is not worth 20K Used... not even close! plus... who in their right mind would bid on something they know nothing about!!! the person doesn't even list specs..... o.e.. america is going so down hill, a private jet with open doors couldn't help it get back up.

Err the PS3 dev kit cost $10K back in 2007, so IF this Duragno kit is in fact real, $20K used would be worth it considering the next gen Xbox is not even close to being released.

Ah, but it doesn't mean that though. It either comes from celtic/iberian "Turankos" or latin "Duranicus".

Not what I read:

"The word Durango originates from the Basque word "Urango" meaning "water town"

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durango,_Colorado#History

And that's not actually the first source I read from, Wiki just happens to echo the same description I read elsewhere. Latin isn't even a practiced or studied language anymore in most parts of the world. You have to deal with the fact that many words are bastardized version of other languages, so Latin root tracing isn't so effective anymore.

I am from the Basque Country and basque is my mother language. I also live 50 km away from Durango. First of all Urango is composed of basque words "water" and "valley" anyway, not "water town".

The Urango root for the name Durango was rejected long time ago. The logic for Durango, was a posible shortening of "Villa de Urango" or in medieval spanish "Villa D'Urango", a city funded, according to the proposants of the theory, in a place previously known as Urango, though this has never been able to confirm, since nothing in writen language or oral tradition predates the name Durango as a name for the area, and apparently no other toponim follows the logic/evolution proposed above. There's also the fact that the only "official" language in the area was still basque back then, so an spanish name doesn't really make much sense.

Unlike the above, there's many other toponims which do follow the logic behind a bastardization of latin words. "Duranicus", meaning "property of Duranius". Bastardizations of pre-indoeuropean languages are also common, but in this case "Duranicus" is by far the most accepted of the two.

As a basque citizen and speaker, I can guarantee you that I'd much prefer the basque root, and I believe that many many words attributed to latin or greek do actually come from proto-basque or a common language/root from the same family that predates indoeuropean languages. But in the case of Durango, it just does not seem the case.

I hope it's backward compatible with 360 games... because I bet the durango's gaming library sucks! :slap:  [/sarcasm]

EDIT: Plus, it was used.. I wonder how much a brand new one would cost!...lol

Nintendo did the same thing for the Wii U. Ubisoft was making tech demos and games for it almost 2 years ago. Nintendo sent them a dev unit that looked like a computer.

Microsoft probably already has developers working on launch games if they plan to launch next year or the year after so no reason to believe it's fake.

You mean besides that microsoft isnt pursuing him legally.. for selling a machine that is likely either stolen or contractually obligated not to be resold.

Its fake

Yeah I figured you had some such heritage given the way you answered, but since you didn't have definitive proof of your rebuttal, I have to think there's at least SOME credence to a Basque vs Latin derivative. Certainly "Durango" seems more rooted in Basque/Spanish than Latin, just sayin.

50 mi from Durango huh? I tried several years ago to move to Grand Junction, didn't work out.

Back on topic. Whatever MS calls this puppy, it better have the horsepower to compete this time around. Again with the western colloquialisms. :p

Ya but it wouldn't be to resell. The only way he got the real deal is if Microsoft gave it to him with a contract or he stole it
