Sennheiser Launches the Momentum Series Headphones

Perfect sound can be heard, felt and seen: the new MOMENTUM from Sennheiser's Style Selection combines an excellent sound experience with high-quality material and minimalist style. The new headphones are the perfect choice for anyone unwilling to compromise on sound quality and style. The MOMENTUM's minimalist design resolutely cuts out anything superfluous, making the headphones appear understated and stylish.

The high-quality, predominantly natural materials emphasise the headphones' pure aesthetics. Design and luxurious textures combined to create headphones that are the ultimate in comfort and feel. The headband and earpads are worked from soft and supple leather of the finest quality from traditional English tannery Pittards and are complemented by a headband slider crafted of premium stainless steel.



Pure sound experience
The MOMENTUM's sound is like its design: pure and unadulterated. Sennheiser made use of established technologies from the high-end headphone sector to ensure a clear stereo sound with excellent detail.

A 3.5mm stereo plug means the MOMENTUM can be connected to all current media players. For Apple products such as the iPad, iPhone and iPod there is an additional cable with integrated smart remote and microphone. Buttons set into the elegant metal casing allow you to adjust the volume, select music titles, take phone calls and activate voice control or personal assistant features. And the full size ear cups mean you can relax and enjoy your favourite sounds wherever and whenever you like.

The MOMENTUM can first be seen at this year's IFA. It will be available from selected Sennheiser sales partners including John Lewis and HMV from September at an RRP of £259.99.

I have the HD555 headphones and although the sound quality is really good the build quality of the headphones isn't. Plastic build and the ear cushions tore after a year. Leather is much better and it looks like it might be steel build. I will get this once I know more about it.

The volume control on the cord isn't the best thing they could have done. They are known to break down quite easy on any headphone.

It looks really nice tho. I got a AKG K601 myself.

Useless details, the only thing you need to know is whether it sounds good or not. Too many headphones claiming great numbers and materials fall flat when it comes to actual testing.

When buying headsets, I always test the on site and on person. I have found this way that 100$ sets can sound and feel much more better than even 300$ ones, so it's just the taste actually...

Agree, it all comes down to what sound you prefer. However when you get into $300+ range you really need a good headphone amplifier to make them sound good.

Nice design but they can do without the volume control on the cord.I already have volume control within reach on my speakers, monitor, keyboard,windows software,case and maybe I missed one.They can put the extra resources on the internals.It's like fancy car makers that put a nice clock smack in the middle of the dash, If you can afford a $200.OOO Car you probably have a wrist watch,it's just fluff.

Based on the PR this is to be used with portable media players, I think its understandable that they include the inline volume control.

I just can't see me walking around with these plugged into my iPhone. I use these Senns. Nothing fancy but have funny shaped ears so regular ear buds fall out of my ears so these do the job nicely and have the inline mic/controls

Especially when they have it Used like new for $183.
I can personally attest to their amazingness and the quality of the Used like new.

They don't, the 598 are far superior but you need an amp for them.

Probably not, but going by that these have some fancy materials and design I would guess that when it comes to the quality of the sound they won't be up there (it's won't be bad however).
You could also compare them to HD600, but I bet the 600's destroy them.

EDIT: should of added that this is just my guess based on the info available!

Hmm, I think I will keep to my Beyer DT150 for that raw retro look instead of trying to mimic it.

my problem with these types of "executive headphones" is they sound like a $100 headphone with $50 worth of bling and charge $249-$399.
