BitTorrent Entertainment Network starts on coming Monday

According to sources close to Heise News the inventor of the famous BitTorrent protocol will open an internet shop with close to 5000 movies, tv-series and games. You can buy your favorite one and will be able to download it immediately using the BitTorrent protocol. As you can see in their Press Releases they have teamed up with film studios like 20th Century Fox, MTV Networks, Paramount and Warner Bros., so interesting content shouldn't be the problem.

At the very moment the website BitTorrent is down. All you get is a small message window which reads: "BitTorrent will return in a few hours as an entirely new entertainment experience."

jokes aside, this could be a good thing just for bit torrent speeds, nothing better than dl a linux distro at 700kB/s on torrent, its a great technology and we are yet to see the best of it.

i bet its fast but if they have the rights to movies and music its never going to be cheap, not as cheap as others like usenext which dont have the right but do have the quality

is it just me or does it look like this is going to skyrocket illegal torrents.
as ppl will pay for the normal ones then conveniently have them on there computer & upload them to other torrents supplying the file to millions.
personaly i can see a boost in illegal torrents very soon.
especially the ones that are being sold.

I dont think so, in Spain the law is very explicit about it, it is LEGAL to download, copy and distribute only if you dont get money for that . I can provide you the articles that allow p2p and sharing to everybody.
I know that several countries in Europe have the same rules, for example France.
But RIAA equivalent groups want the law to be changed, and they push people to think p2p is illegal by advertisements in the cinema, you know the ones that say that you will go hell and prison... they forget to mention in those ads that you can only go prison or pay if you earn money with the transaction.

Hopefully they do this right. Hopefully, they will credit users who seed back files, either in cash or download points or some similar system, providing incentive to seed. Additionally, BitTorrent tech allows them to distribute files dirt cheap, since it takes very little of their bandwidth. As such, this has the potential to kick ass; lets hope so.
