It is using the A75 chipset but is still called A85...

Same chipset, different socket. The different name makes it very obvious for users so they do not purchase the wrong product for a new FM2 CPU.

Not muc hdifferent than the move to AM3+? Not sure on that one, but...

A85 and A75 are both called A85*. Other, than the increased amount of VRMs you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two.

*A85H/F = A75
*A85X = A85

HMm, interesting. Got a source for that info, becuase at this point, I know nothing about what's coming, other than I believe the socket change was needed for power delivery reasons. I don't even know that for sure, that's just what makes sense to me.

I mistook the lack of VRMs as being an indicator in reference to the type of motherboard.

A85 = Hudson D4 which has 8 * 6Gb/s SATA.

The good A85 boards have 8/10/12/16 VRMs and look somewhat similar to their LGA 1155 counterparts.

A85X vs Z77X from Biostar (This one is harder to notice the similarities)

Dat bling!

This seems adequate. :)
