This coming Tuesday Microsoft will release a total of seven software updates (one rated 'Critical' and six rated 'Important') to address bugs that could lead to Remote Code Execution, Denial of Service attacks or Elevation of Privileges.

These new patches address vulnerabilities found in Windows (XP, Vista, 7, Server 2003, Server 2008 (R2)), Office, SQL Server, Communicator, Lync, SharePoint Server, FAST Search Server and Groove Server. For more info check out the Security Bulletin Advance Notification for October 2012.

Just before Windows 8 releases...

MS releases patches every second Tuesday of every month. There are patches before w8 release and there'll be after. Timing doesn't matter here.

lol I agree. Windows 8 isnt a factor. I think there is some nasty going around that MS is catching up with. Been a while since they had some updates like this.

Only 2 for Win7 and the rest is Office? Could it mean Office 2013 is almost done?Oh well Just means I will have to install Office updates under Win8.

Agreed.

They should broadcast what they are patching a bit more so virus programmers better know how to correctly alter their virals in time.

Now why would they wanna do that :)

Probably to make the average consumer think that Windows 7 is getting left behind by Microsoft.
As us PC enthusiasts know, that's not always the case, although some of us buy regardless.
