MSI GeForce GTX 660 HAWK Graphics Card Launched

MSI launched the GeForce GTX 660 HAWK, which was first pictured in mid-September. The card makes use of a custom-design PCB with 10-phase VRM, and features factory-overclocked speeds of 1085 MHz core, 1150 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.00 GHz memory (GDDR5-effective). It packs 2 GB of memory across a 192-bit wide memory interface. Another major component is its Twin Frozr IV cooler, which uses a dense aluminum fin stack to which head directly draw from the GPU is fed by a number of nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The card uses an external GPU Reactor module that conditions power for the GPU, stabilizing OC. It is expected to be priced around US $250.

Really? People looking for bargains are getting p**ed on this time.... Glad I'm happy with ancient old tech. Don't know why there are non-Ti versions of this card. Just call it an 650 ultra or something, jeez.

Bad MSI .. . adding a custom cooler and back plate and front plate didn't do the pricing any favors.

But I do kind of agree non TI's should just be binned as 650's, rather than have 2 versions of the 660, that have such a huge difference in performance.

Looks like we get to find out if the extra coin it costs, and the extra cooling it has leads to extra performance.

660TI is $300+ this is $250. 250 is lower than $300 according to the math I was taught ...

The 660 is NOT a jacked up 650. Check the reviews. 660 completely obliterates the 650. They are as far apart as Antarctica to the North Pole.
