A Samsung employee told Korea Times that the company has stopped making touchscreens for Apple, a major component of the iPad. Despite legal tussles between the companies over design patents of smartphones and tablets on a near-global scale, Samsung maintained a supplier relationship with Apple, making touchscreens and contract-manufacturing ASICs at its semiconductor fabs. According to the employee's statement to the newspaper, Apple has become a troublesome customer paying less and less for LCD screens, resulting in the Korean company to cut back on orders. Apple has been paying half of what it used to for screens in the iPad 2. The upcoming iPad Mini, which will be launched a little later this week, will not feature Samsung screens.

And suddenly the corporate school yard erupts...

"FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!"

Apple has drawn first blood but here comes Samsung with a right hook!!

Now lets all hope it doesn't degenerate into a musical...don't think the world needs to see Tim Cook doing gangnam style.

Looks like something the Sheeple should try emulating.

well..... business is business when they aint beating each other over the head with handbags over patent issues.

Just like any drunk in a bar that cant pay his tab and kicking up a fuss when the staff refuse to serve him. he's gonna get his ass thrown out onto the street.

If Apple aint paying then why should Samsung continue to supply them?

Secondly, nobody likes being low balled and I guess thats exactly what Apple are doing.

I read elsewhere that Samsung doesn't make much money per pixel with the ipad 3 as it did with the ipad 2. There was a considerable price difference between the two.

CNET Article which states that Samsung is still supplying Apple and that Korean Times is wrong.

at the same time this wouldnt suprise me at all. business is still business and Apple would most likely have a quite a big contract with Samsung for thousands upon thousands of screens for the iphone and ipad (and other apple products)

It might makes sense, since the apple macbook pro line (non-retina) uses display screens from two manufacturers (LG and Samsung i believe)... So apple might be getting a better deal for the screens from the other guy, and cutting into the samsung pricing as well. Too bad the samsung screens look better lol.

Not to be the black sheep, but the Japanese displays looks so much better than Samsung. I was privileged on my last trip to JP to see some mobiles with Panasonic or Sharp screens and are miles away from anything I've seen on iPhone or Galaxies... Maybe Apple should look over there? Just saying...
