Microsoft's Xbox Live service is turning 10 soon, and the company plans to celebrate it by gifting some of its most loyal members with a special edition Xbox 360 console, which features a refreshing new color scheme, and "A decade of entertainment" logo printed on its sides. There's no clarity on what one has to do to be able to receive one of these, but we'd imagine only the most loyal Xbox Live members, probably with active memberships dating back years, get the console. A Kotaku reader was surprised to find one of these packages at his doorstep. He never ordered it, never entered a giveaway, and isn't affiliated with the gaming industry. If you've been a long enough active member of the service which started in October 2002, there's finally reason your subscription billing address could come handy.

Looks nice but...next gen now pls --_--

Nice to see a company doing this.

I can't tell but I guess this is the model 2?

Next xb ain't due till later next year

At first i thought oh how nice for veterans that served in the military, but i guess they arn't that nice.

But any anyway congrats Xbox you produced 2 products in a decade...

I kinda like the look of this model. It's cool that Microsoft are doing this but I doubt a lot of people will get one. Most people I know had a PS2 and it wasn't until the 360 that they moved sides and even then, only the most hardcore hard Live with the original Xbox.

Did Live launch with the Xbox or after? I've read there was a beta for it so I'm not sure.

No thanks release a new console that doesn't make games look like shit already!

Yeah, Xbox Live launched on the original Xbox with Unreal Championship/Mechassault, but it wasn't really popular until Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War was released. It then really took off with the launch of Halo 2, and the rest is history.

ahhhh crap my billing address is old... my "loyalty" (and i use that term VERY loosely haha) probably just gave someone a limited edition xbox :/
