PC Industry Stares Faces Years Long Recession: Analyst

If I built this desktop of mine from scratch now, I had also been choosing for a form factor of mATX or less. Times are changing. The desktop won't die (there will be a time during which saving on the battery will be an important economic factor) but they will get smaller. A lot smaller.

mailman is right... desktops as we know them will eventually die and what will be left will change and become something a bit different than what they are today.

It is only a matter of time. Workstations at work will eventually become thinner and thinner (as in thin client, not actual dimensions), and home desktops will move closer to appliances.

The problem with all these handheld devices is they do not leave you with a free hand! No point in watching porn if you can't spank the monkey while you watch! I will stick with my DT.

that is why they know you will buy the optional kickstand and clear screen protector accessories.

LOL. But what about the screen? It is small and makes the boobs look small. I think they need some kind of magnifying accessory to fix this as well. One that pops up when needed.

See... you just innovated an accessory - the tablet head-mount hat... it holds the tablet 9 inches away from your face, making the screen size the same as an Imax.

Of course I'm right. You act as if that was ever a debate.

A major factor in declining PC sales could be slow PC replacement rate, "with analysis pointing toward a 1-2 year extension in the replacement rate from 2010-2015 due to income diverted to 'disruptive' mobile products like tablets and smart phones across the globe."

Or how about something called a global recession/depression?

That hasn't effected Tablet or Smart phone sales? Nice try.

no, there is no global recession. hey, who let him in? quick, pound him before he reveals the truth!

I wasn't talking to you :D.

Also, I wish we could just skip tablets and go straight to personal robots.

Until tablets and smartphones replace "productivity" platforms like the PC or MAC, they're not going to die any quick death. But alas, they will die in time... or take another form.

I think Microsoft is doing the right thing with a tablet/pc hybrid platform, but they're going to have a tough time getting folks to buy thier phones. Android and iOS have too much momentum right now.

All my robots would have sexually transmitted viruses not even Kaspersky could cure.

I am still surprised 'Stares Faces Years' has yet gone uncontested.
