Sony Computer unveiled some additional details about the PlayStation 3(PS3) in Tokyo, Japan. The new console is going to be more expansive, because of the components and the long life-cycle.

"We're looking at a life cycle of 10 years with the PlayStation 3. We're currently shifting from standard TVs to HDTVs, but in the next couple of years, most flat-panel TVs will be full HD. We're releasing the PS3 with full HD features from the start so that consumers won't have to buy another version of the console in the future. For the same reason, we're using Blu-ray as the PS3's disc format,"

they're dreaming... Especially with the crap for specs the ps2 and ps3 have... and the firece competition from xbox 360 and nintendos offerings..

Nintendo isnt a threat to anybody, they dont even aim the console/games at same audiance as sony/microsoft and the 360 isnt exactly a powerhouse either. The ps3/360 are pretty much gonna be capable of the exact same thing game wise.

concidering that the ps1 has served a 10 year life cycle, i see no reason to doubt the ps2 and 3 will do the same ;).

The PSX had no competition. ;)

With the.... lack.. of what developers wanted in these consoles, I dont think either are going to last very long, just like the xbox has already. 4-5, maybe 6 years tops..

I have tons of nintendo stuff... and love the games.. they target their audience right, just dont have 3 million junk games. ;)

More Sony BS. The PS1 had a 6 year life cycle, 1995 to 2001, while the PS2 is looking to have a 5 year life cycle with the PS3 launching in 2006.
