I'm on a work break for a few days, so yeah :)
I don't a bf yet, but I do have a lot of girlfriends that are nerdy like me ;)

Looking at your avatar pic makes me realize how I need/want a girl friend :ohwell:

Wonder if the frame drop is going to be the same for AMD cards.
Missed out on pre-ordering.
Might get a copy from EB with the DLC or something.

I love that they made the game to run on Nvidia Surround as some games look terrible and squished (COD BL2 I am looking at you). But Seriously looks amazing on 3 monitors. Everyone should give that a try!
That's because it is an AMD Gaming Evolved title, geared towards EyeFinity gaming which is AMD's forte. I have been gaming in EyeFinity mode, for games with proper surround support that is, since buying 2x HD5870 back when they were launched. Fell in love with EF gaming to the extend that I'd lose interest in any game that does not support it....even the COD series.

Dead Space and its sequels have very good EF support right out of the box.....I'd not recommend peeps try it though, because once they do, there's simply no turning back.:pimp: As you can see, I am so into EF surround gaming that all my rigs are capable of it.

How the hell are you running TR when is just barely launched yet, and people are still at work/school?!? You guys are fraking addicted!! Get a life! Get a gf or something!! Seriously! LOL!!! :)))))))))

But Lara is my life and my girlfriend. :ohwell: Screw work!

I'm running at 60+ frames with all settings maxxed out and tressfx on with the latest nvidia beta drivers at 1920x1200.

Prepare for an onslaught of friend requests.

Lovely approach by AMD, physics feature that works on either amd or.nvidia

One that works better on their GPUs but that DOES work on all.

The hair is much more realistic BUT, if it's just the hair i see this as a waste of GPU resources: would rather have 1/5 or even 1/10 of this "new look" on everything then all of it on her hair.

Personally, i don't like either approach (nVidia with PhysX and AMD with TressFX) BUT i rather have it like this then with the nVidia way.

This innovation could very well pave the way for future games to have this technology in all aspects of their visuals resulting in an overall better experience for the consumer. The fact that all GPUs can run it sure helps, IMO.

They will, even though im surprised the beta released today wasn't the driver recommended for Tomb Raider. I guess the next one will.

Seems like nVidia is already working on it, red a reply from a mod in geforce forums.

We are aware of major performance and stability issues with GeForce GPUs running Tomb Raider with maximum settings. Unfortunately, NVIDIA didn’t receive final code until this past weekend which substantially decreased stability, image quality and performance over a build we were previously provided. We are working closely with Crystal Dynamics to address and resolve all game issues as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, we would like to apologize to GeForce users that are not able to have a great experience playing Tomb Raider, as they have come to expect with all of their favorite PC games.

Just got the game and  wow! the game looks incredibly awesome specially in the part when you need to climb up the tower. (if ya know what I mean ;) )

I thought the TressFX hair was just about the same as Alice Madness Returns Physx hair but it proved me wrong after seeing it in game. I have vsync off, everything maxed out (TressFX enabled) with ultimate preset and my benchmark is like 1.3/36/51. I'm surprised with the results as I'm not having such lags or extremely low framerates in game while playing. But I'm having crashes every 2 mins so I turned off exclusive fullscreen that partially fixed it (now approx every 2 hours interval per crash).

The tower climbing scene made this my GOTY. :D

A more in-depth GPU comparison with the game can be found here.

Very interesting things.

Driver issues might not be the only thing.

It is pretty kickass! Though a lot of games do not run well in Surround, mostly due to not supporting the higher resolutions. Oh they will usually run in the higher resolution but everything looks terrible. It looks like your system might run 3 monitors with another 670. I bought 2 IPS LED monitors for $180 each (US currency as I see your in Australia). They are dirt cheap now a days.

Try to use Widescreen Fixer or Flawless Widescreen, I use both and they keep constantly adding support for new games and fixing little things developers don't care about like in game movies and HUDs.

I really like how this game supports 5760x1080 out of the box, all other developers should throw widescreen gamers a bone (I'm looking at Activision and EA :shadedshu)

I'd like to see a CPU comparison as well, I saw a recording a rig running a 7970 Matrix Platinum and a stock FX-8350 with the game maxed out at 1920x1080 doing quite well in it... possible better than what some of you guys with OC'd i7-3770K and 7970GE have shown.

that is so unfair, the pc port of neither TR or deus ex or hitman, etc etc is done by the main dev

http://www.nixxes.com why dont they give credit to them?

They "only" did the conversion of the code, but anyway, while I did not have Hitman at the launch, I do remember that the other two titles had serious launch-date issues with Nvidia because of "silent" last-minute changes breaking only the nvidia drivers both times.
I can't help it, but I kinda see a pattern there tbh.

This hair FX thingy is looking good, but on my 5870 is overkill. From ~60fps it cuts it to about 24fps when enabled, and can go down to 5,6 FPS if only the head is on the main view. Even Physx works better than this unoptimized crap.

I'm surprised how well it runs on X fire 5870s id say turn precision off in the options that helped mine

I'm very late in replying, but I'm sure you'll find the right girl ;)

Sorry, I'm very delayed with my replies ><
I'm currently still using a 2 monitor setup. Been thinking about adding a third one lately. I actually might retire my trusty GTX 670 & upgrade to maybe a 780GTX Ti or wait out for a few months to see how Maxwell performs first. :)
