VR-Zone has revealed some information about the GeForce 8500GT video cards to be released on April 17. Based on 80nm TSMC process and 128-bit memory interface, the GeForce 8500GT cards will be clocked at 450MHz core with 256MB of DDR2 memory at 400MHz (800MHz DDR). Those cards are expected to outperform any current GeForce 7600GS, scoring around 22xx and 42xx marks at 3DMark06 (1280x1024) and 3DMark05 (1024x768) respectively. The DX10 performance is unknown at this stage. The NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT series will be priced between $79 to $99 USD.

the 7600gs reviewed here scored a 4979 at stock speeds, and a 7129 overclocked

Wow...that is a damn nice price for gamers on a budget. Can you imagine these in SLI and QUAD GPU configs???

according to that picture, no sli bridge...:(

amazing...NVIDIA says no dx10 agp cuz agp cannot handle it...what bs, those specs are dam weak.

the card looks weak reminds me of my old radeon 9550 :D

Hmmm... those are rather weak scores for a $99 video card. I am guessing that the $79 price will be more likely.

BUT, It is great to see that low cost DirectX10 video cards really are on the way!! :toast:

Funny... I am a big AMD and ATI fan... it seems fitting that AMD bought ATI because right now both of them seem to be "behind the times". Nvidia and Intel are enjoying an awful lot of limelight... and to be honest, they deserve it. I am still waiting and keeping my fingers crossed for ATI and AMD's response, but that wait seems to be lasting f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Meh, I was actually hoping for DDR3 ram to help give it a better edge over the 7600gs (I know ddr3 7600gs's really scream and overclock well). Also, it sucks that that heatsink doesn't cover the ram like the ones on the 8600s we were shown earlier...

Can't beat the price. Are they gonna have anything cover the $100-$149 range? The 8600gt is out of my desired price range and this looks a little to weak... Plus, I've been appalled at Nvidia's driver support (I went ATI with an x800).

i expect to see a 8600gs eventually to fill the $100-$150 segment

8600gt weak, how so?

i was planning 2 of these for sli, but i guessi would go for a single 8600gt or a couple gs (if they come out)

POS. and wtf is the deal with using DDR2? That stuff is more expensive to make than DDR3, and runs a lot hotter too. For $100 you can do so much better than the 8500GT. Also given its namesake, its specification is absolutely pathetic, they should rename it a 8300GT or something.

Ket's got a point. DDR2 wtf? My 6800GS/XT has ddr3.

Hows that 6800 working for you? You get a good OC out of it? drop me a PM if you want some tricks on making it faster.

That pic doesn't look very real as well... It seems extremely pathetic, as well as the cooler (reminds me of the old TNT days).

And at this stage why aren't they using solid caps? It looks worse than a 9550IMHO.

The pic is deffinately real, unfortunately..

you're right, and since it doesn't have a sli it's probabily a 7300gs

it is not uncommon to reuse similar board layouts on different cards

this card should be the "lowest range" DX10...8300/8100....its a POS!

imo....this is an UGLY card, and it's specs suck!

Agreed. Ugly.

The only thing it has going for it is DX10...
