Game bundle wars between NVIDIA and AMD have been a one-sided contest in favor of the latter, with AMD bundling the hottest AAA titles with its Radeon hardware, compared to NVIDIA offering in-game currency on popular free-to-play games. Following news of AMD stepping up its "Never Settle Reloaded" with Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on all GPUs upwards of Radeon HD 7750, we've learned that NVIDIA is frantically responding by preparing to give away Metro: Last Light with all GeForce GPUs upwards of the $200 GTX 660. The bundle will go live from April 16th.

IMO AMD missed badly on this one, I can't wait for more Metro action. I only hope it's as good (or better) as 2033.

EDIT: I somehow misread and thought it will go with the GTX 680....the GTX 660 might have a hard time running Metro.

About damn time.

... the GTX 660 might have a hard time running Metro.

Yeah, ultra settings in metro games are way over the top. I'm sure it looks great and runs fine on high or very high.

Compared to what AMD was offering lately this is peanuts.

Son of a gun I just ordered my GTX 680 DirectCUII Top yesterday...hmmm what do you guys think will I be able to score a free copy with out having to send the card back to newegg? Its $60, and its a game I really wanted to get so yeah I mean I just spend $540 on that card I might try and score this game. Any one ever get anywehre with this kind of stuff?

A single game bundled with a graphics card that probably couldnt run it above medium to high settings?
I'm a die hard Metro fan, and this does not make me want to buy this card.

Quick question you think the GTX680 that I got wont be able to run it, or you are probably refering to the OP about the GTX660? I sure hope a 680 would be able to game high settings playable FPS. In single player I am ok with a ROCK solid 30fps 60 is not a must unless its MP.

Play Metro on medium setting is like banging a girl while she has a bag on her head...

IMO a GTX 680 should be able to produce 30fps in 1080p.

Nvidia = Still giving less for more. :shadedshu

You say that like it's a bad thing? :p

So can we expect Metro optimized to run better with Nvidia cards this time ,not like the previous 2033 which was better with ATI .

It is affiliated with NVidia according to the website, so i would imagine it will be the same as before but opposte, with nvidia getting maybe 5 more frames than the AMD equal xD
That's if its coded similarly.

who knows if Metro Last light will be hardware hungry that need Titan or 690/7990 cards to run smoother even at 1080p with decent details ???

the game has not been released yet and already know all about it?

Being a complete reworking of, if you all see the video already published until now

The game has lost all that heavy graphics and has been optimized.

You see a softness and smoothness of the engine in the video immediately visbile.

Im pretty sure this game runs smooth at medium details on 1080p even with this 660.

Wow! and I just bought my MSI PE GTX680... Oh well.. I smell a GTX660 going into my daughters pc soon.. lol

What are you talking about? The game has kept all the details of 2033 and they even added a lot of stuff.

I have seen videos and from it it looks to be even more heavy than 2033...I sure hope you're not comparing it with the console gameplay video that's out there...

I wish SLi between GTX680 and 660 is possible :) .

Here we go, the war of bundled games.

I don't mind really, as long as the price of a card doesn't go up you could just flog the game/s for some quick cash to recuperate some of the money spent.

Aww I just bought a Evga 660 sc last week, wonder if i can email support lol :ohwell:

I see videos directly from the official youtube channel.

This not means that the engine is more heavy...

A refinement of the egine involves not only a visual improvement on graphics but also on the technical.

No one is talking about the engine, you said that the game has lost all heavy graphics...which it did not.
If the engine is more optimized fine, but the graphics stayed the same or have been improved.

2033 was already quite well optimized for PC IMO, no CPU bottleneck and good use of modern GPU's at the time.

Im pretty sure the bundle will be with the 680 as well. Says Cards above the $200 mark from the 660 and higher. If so, I may just end up getting a 2nd GTX680 for sli. Might have to since im going to get a 1440p IPS I think.

Only thing that really destroyed FPS in 2033, was the DoF. It was thrown in, and its compute based. Doesn't do much for the overall scene either so you don't really need it. with my 680 with everything else on with DOf off at 1920x1200 I get solid 60fps. With DoF on, drops to like 32.
